The dumbing down of America is most evident in the slow decay of substantive content in the enormously influential media, the 30-second sound bites (now down to 10 seconds or less), lowest common denominator programming, credulous presentations on pseudoscience and superstition, but especially a kind of celebration of ignorance.

Debates aren’t worth shit. They’re run by a bipartisan committee that comes together and agrees on the terms of the debate in order to make each politician look their absolute best. It’s as much of a debate as Jerry Springer is a talk show.

The debate benefits Biden in no way. It will only reduce his turnout.

Debates matter mainly in how they influence the media narrative, which means that Biden’s lines should not really be crafted to appeal the strongest to people like most of us.

If Biden really wanted to win the debate, he’d hire Jeff Ross to write some roast material about Trump and use that in lieu of answering the questions.
