Real head scratcher why Democrats can’t get young people to the polls with such dynamic, relateable leadership.
Off the top of my head, and sticking to establishment types who actually would currently have a shot (so don’t @ me for picking people most of this forum would hate):
Stacey Abrams
Andrew Gillum
Beto
Pete
Are not in the House and would all be way way way better at the messaging side. The legislative strategy side, she’s not as terrible at, although her broad political strategy is super weak (but nobody in Congress seems to get GTO).
Like I think the ideal model may be to split it between a Majority Leader who handles the legislative tactics and whipping votes, and a Speaker who handles messaging.
Obviously everybody craves power so that’ll never happen.
Julian Castro.
There it is.
Former President Camacho
Lots of people want a chump for president, I hear.
If the beauty parlor owner is a registered Dem, I’m in.
Castro needs to be running the DNC. Perez needs to get got.
Castro is probably pretty well situated at the middle of the caucus, too. I don’t think either wing hates him, and most people to his left and right like him.
Agreed. But if we take the WH + Senate + hold the House we will never be rid of Perez
Those people were always coming home to daddy.
Just like I add “undecideds” to Trump’s poll numbers because if you don’t know by now then you are voting him (or some won’t vote; hopefully enough to keep him from winning; but nobody “undecided” at this point is voting Biden)
Not the next 2-4 years. But HR1+ is a huge win for progressives and the reverberations would shift the party to the left over time simply by protecting democracy as the population shifts.
Conceptually I agree with this, but it’s not absolute. Maybe undecideds break 60-25-15 Trump-Biden-Neither but it won’t be 100-0. Some people need to see Biden in a debate to see he’s not a corpse, or the right ad will get them.
Overall I agree Trump gets more undecideds.
Basically what’s gonna happen is Biden voters will vote by mail in large numbers.
Close swing states will be led by Trump after Election Day and then Trump will work to get tons of mail in votes tossed out “because signatures don’t match” or whatever.
You vote at the poll and it 100% counts (minus any hacking/rigging) but you vote by mail and some non-zero percent will be tossed.
That doesn’t sound like I can send my ballot in today, go to early voting on Saturday and be ok.
If not received by Election Day, not early voting days, is what it says.
He’s trying to gum up the works and give a reason for extra scrutiny on every single mail-in ballot that is recorded after Election Day so he can try to get as many thrown out as possible (or make it take so long the Supreme Court can follow 2000 precedent and stop the counting). If his followers get through the cracks and get 2 votes for him, that’s a risk he’s willing to take.
Over half a million mailed ballots were tossed nationally during the primaries, and that was without Dump’s minion’s out in the field actively trying to rig. It’s going to be a goddamned bloodbath come November.
Vote in person if you can ffs
DOJ set to sue Google for antitrust violations later this month. Several DOJ antitrust division attorneys have resigned from case due to Barr’s interference. Unusual for the AG to get directly involved with antitrust cases.
