Sounds like someone took his phone from him and is trying to walk it back for him. That procedure is way too complicated for the dotard to lay out on his own. I would not be the least bit surprised if he still busts out the vote twice shtick at the next whistlestop.

This whole voting twice thing is a media overreaction/gotcha/distraction for a cycle or two. You can vote in person if your ballot has not been received or was rejected for any reason (such as invalid signature, maybe.) That’s how I interpreted what he said. Here’s MA’s info:

No, he’s going to try to stop the counting of all mail-in ballots right after the election ends and lean on the fact that if it wasn’t counted yet you could vote in person. There is likely to be some kind of bullshit EO to this effect in late October.
It’ll cause massive chaos, which is exactly what he wants. He probably also wants to make states cross reference every mail-in ballot with the in-person rolls before they can count it. This means they take forever to count and lots of people are disenfranchised because there’s a time limit to certify the election and whatever has been counted at that point is what counts.
People think he and his people are total morons, but there are a few evil geniuses over there and they’re way better at this than Dems. In fact you don’t even have to be that smart, just sinister.

Also keep in mind that if all his voters vote twice and all the Dems vote once, he creates a massive freeroll and an absolute headache for blue states.
Like in reality even if 10% of his voters vote twice, it’s a nightmare. Good luck prosecuting them when the POTUS told them to do it.

Eh I think he’s just continuing to sow chaos in the voting system in order to further cast doubt on the results. At 10PM on election day networks are going to broadcast numbers that show him in the lead, and then for the next weeks (months?) while mail-in votes are counted he’s going to be tweeting nonstop about all the cheating and double-voting that took place. Plenty of people will mail in their ballots a week before the election then show up on election day to “see if their vote has been tabulated”, of course it won’t have been, and then vote again. To them it will be plausible that tons of people voted twice, because they will have done so themselves.
This is going to be a shitshow.

The deadline to certify is late December. I was young in 2000 but isn’t the precedent that if a full recounting wasn’t finished, the initial count stood?
Lost in all of this is Trump telling people to mail in their ballots.

That Trump tape shit happened in rich and probably well funded Manhattan. Even a normal election is a shitshow in the US.

This isn’t how it works though. In many states they can’t even start certifying mail-in ballots, much less counting them, before Election Day.
He has beaten the nickname thing into an unfunny pulp. Not the same charm as four years ago and he is forcing it so hard.

Yeah, that’s how it’s supposed to work. All he needs to do is sow doubt, create confusion, file a bunch of lawsuits and slow it down. Prepare for lots of challenges on the constitutionality of all of that.
I would like to put money on it just because the monetary value is far exceeded by how much I can gloat if Biden wins. If he loses, my lawnmower was going into Russian orbit anyway so it’s really an easy call.
