Eyyyy
I mean, a lot of them had to settle into racist shithole places like the South or Appalachia, or out of desperation become cops in NYC because no one else wanted that kind of a job. idk if the Irish diaspora as a whole are more or less racist than any other immigrant community in the US.
Yesterday Maddow did a deep dive into how money was siphoned from Trump’s supposed $100M inaugural.
I think about this when i see that Trump is “going dark” with some media buys in some markets. The NRA did $50M in ads for Trump in 2016 and is doing none now. Trump can’t hold many big donor events, and Adelson, who gave $25M, was recently criticized by Trump. A supposed 1M door knocks turned out to be bogus. And any consultant still working for trump is probably charging 2x and padding. Biden raised $309M last month. Trump is president and has enough media to do a lot, but I wouldn’t be surprised if his campaign isn’t sucking some wind when it comes to funds. Would you let Trump pay on credit.
A record number of polls released yesterday, most don’t look good for Trump. Election is two months away, which is like half a semester. Maybe 1/3 or 1/4 of votes (dunno) will be cast in the next month. Things aren’t looking great for Donnie.
Like these state polls because Trump doesn’t get a free 3-4% based on the electoral college.

Trump just gotta pray for more violence in white areas of Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and I guess Florida and for the media to beam it out everywhere.
Pre-internet America led the world in alien abductions, so it’s always been fertile ground for wild conspiracies.
He doesn’t have to pray for violence. He’ll just manufacture it.
I hadn’t really sat back and fully considered how stressful this election is going to be. My plan before the whole mail in ballot thing was to just get my hands on some xanax and rail this thread and generally by morning I’d at least know if we we’re completely fucked or not.
The prospect of a week plus not knowing is fucking terrifying, especially with all the insanity that will come with it. It being that long I’ll have to ditch the xanax plan and start getting into deep meditation or something healthier to manage the stress.
There will probably be a budget battle and possible shutdown in a month when many are getting mail in ballots. That will be fun. Recent polls have had trumps approval at 40-43. I think he can get down to 39 by October.
Mark Meadows killed a lot of deals when he was in congress and now as chief of staff. I think Nancy is the right person for the Dems atm because she generally doesn’t fold a decent hand to a bluff.
Nancy is terrible because the Dems are failing horribly at messaging. As Cuse said they should be passing a ton of new bills to keep it in the news every week that they’re passing bills to help people. Most people I know don’t even realize the Dems had already passed a bill, they think the Republicans passed a skinny bill, and a huge chunk are blaming both sides.
I think that poll a month ago or w/e is accurate. Republicans blame democrats obv, most democrats blame Trump obv, and the majority of everyone else blames both sides which is a ridiculous failure on the dems part.
That’s one possible outcome and it should see the end of Trump.
Another is the covid IFR slowing down, having already burned its way through the most vulnerable (as is the case in much of Europe), and Trump claiming he’s defeated it.
As I said that blame will be spread equally with most undecideds and independents blaming both sides like they already are for the fact no more stimulus has passed.
The days of the president automatically getting all the blame are over because social media and all media is blasting politics into peoples brains 24/7 and dems aren’t doing a good job messaging and media always gives equal play to both sides of the argument
You can’t say that Covid burned through the vulnerable population in Europe. The IFR has decreased but there is no explanation for it yet: Covid-19 is becoming less deadly in Europe but we don't know why | New Scientist
Right, that was an inaccurate impression, but I was talking about possible outcomes and should have said something like “perhaps”.
Yeah, that’s right. The IFR has been decreasing and Trump wil claim victory over it. He is already boasting about the mortality rates, that by the way, are decreased because of the amount of testing being done, which he thinks is too much. Perfect example of how he only uses numbers that suit him.
Trump:
Is the amount of cases the numerator (as it is in infections / capita): Boooooh! You can’t do that!
Is the amount of cases the denominator (as it is in IFR): Yeaaaah! #USA #USA #USA
I agree the Dems are really bad at messaging. Secondly, they just don’t have the evil in their hearts that these Republicans have. I don’t do Facebook, so I think I really underestimate just how evil the intent is with some of these conservative “news” sites. I also underestimate how thorough the brainwashing is, and how effective it is.
