Communication is about intent & impact. If we view Trump’s statement solely through the lens of intent, it can be argued that he did not call it a hoax. It’s different if we look at it through the lens of impact: his followers are far more likely to believe it’s a hoax and act accordingly & he has not corrected their general misconception.
To say that Trump did not call corona a hoax, is to ignore the more important aspect of communication–the message as it’s understood by the audience.
If we will ever get the technology to do immersive simulations then the odds are we are in one because there is only 1 world and time before then but there will be billions of simulations.
The best reason to believe is still that Trump is president.
I’m seen it mentioned a couple times in this thread, some surprise that Amy Barrett had not disclosed that she had COVID previously and recovered. Maybe I’m missing something, but why would anyone have expected her to volunteer that unless asked? Doesn’t seem very relevant to the process.
Trump dying from the virus would probably save more lives than him living so no I don’t hope everyone recovers. I don’t get why everyone is treating him like he’s some normal powerless person in all this and deserves a shred of sympathy for catching something he constantly rails against and downplays
