The Pozzidency of Donald J. Trump: Typhoid Donnie's Slow Hypoxic Demise **Sweat Thread** (updated 100x/minute)

It’s theoretical. It hasn’t happened in practice, that I know of. It has pretty clearly produced the opposite outcome in the recent cases of Bush and Trump.

the north vs the south in like 5 elections in the 1800’s. South guy either gets most votes or close but got blown out in the EC.

Trump was actually the threat they were most ‘worried’ about and it was super obvious that was when it needed to be exercised or the Electoral College needed to be gone.

Dubya was a special case, because no one knew how incompetent he would be going in. That was more about the system dramatically failing. In reality, the EC didn’t put him in, the Supreme Court did 5-4 by not allowing the votes to be counted in Florida because ‘there wasn’t enough time to transition properly and the inauguration date is sacred’.

The sad reality is Gore was a clown and decided to cherry pick counties where he thought he would win due to the recount instead of just having the whole state recount. Those factors don’t even mention that NBC news (hello The Apprentice) is why Bush ‘won’ Florida. They called Florida for Gore when there was still one hour of polls open in the western panhandle. There was a massive GOP operation to try to get as many people to the polls in that area as possible due to this. Whether that provided the 537 votes needed for Bush to ‘win’ Florida, we’ll never know but this is the exact reason why no races are called until the polls are officially closed today.

Two of the biggest blows to our Constitutional Democracy were caused by NBC. They continued to normalize Trump after he should have been fired from The Apprentice for his racist comments and conspiracy theories, and they effectively changed the outcome of the 2000 election with early reporting. And now people believe Chicago PD is reality. Thanks NBC.

the twitter dumbfucks are calling them the biden riots I see.

Look if you all want Joe Biden in charge instead of Trump so you can blame everything on him instead we’re willing to agree to that.

‘They’ is the founders, I assume. So then it’s Greek tragedy that the system that was supposed to prevent Trump actually produced him.

This whole blaming Biden right now angle is causing me literal physical pain. The cognitive dissonance is so extreme I can actually feel it like looking at those pictures designed to cause discomfort.

I may have to avoid following this if it keeps up.

I haven’t read a Trump tweet or watched any cable news in several days and I feel noticeably better. I still follow daily, obviously, but try to limit my consumption to smart people on twitter and posting here. There is absolutely zero point in watching Fox News or consuming right-wing twitter for people who are already fully aware of how bad those outlets are and what is on the line.

I think I am going to start following this advice.

My entire crew of post-high school friends migrated to and now live in Portland. They are all a liberal, politically vocal group. I’m connected with them all on FB. Literally not a single mention from any of them about what’s going on in Portland.

That’s what it’s supposed to do. They know Biden isn’t POTUS. Either ignore it or make something up about Trump. Hard to make up anything worse than the truth, but whatever, if it must be so, then child slaves in the White House basement it must be.

Instead a handful of swing states have all the power.

Why should votes in a swing state count 100x those in the rest of the country?

Historically, as I understand it, because slave owners wanted it that way. And if slave states were to be included in the union, there had to be a compromise. If my young friend had a chance to think this through, I think she’d realize the EC can’t really be defended today. We seem to be stuck with it though.

Where is the RIP for those that Kyle killed in WI???

No idea how people subject themselves to right-wing media. It’s self-abuse.

Know your enemy all that but are new tweets changing your perception of the enemy?

Most people think this in these situations, and most won’t realize they were wrong if we win. They’d only figure it out after it’s too late. I’m just basing that on history.

Also there were a bunch of people calling trump a nazi in 16 and he didn’t do anything they remember nazis did. Makes it easy to dismiss those people.

and then if it happens, HOW COULD ANYONE HAVE PREDICTED THIS???

Yup exactly.

Yeah, imagine if we had locked down super hardcore in March and April and very few people died of COVID over the summer months?

Everyone would be like “what an overreaction”.

Don McGahn (!) wrote a CYA memo saying Kushner shouldn’t have security clearance.

Can you imagine how balls deep he is in blatant corruption for that to happen?
