among other things Melania hates Ivanka, I know you’re all shocked and didn’t notice that from a few nights ago.

That sounds real, but it’s just dentures. I don’t think it’s a big deal when that’s the cause of his slurring.

:joy::joy::joy:

Kayleigh McEnany, who is now White House press secretary, was once interested in becoming Melania’s chief of staff. Melania “really liked” McEnany and was especially impressed with her Harvard Law degree. Because vetting took a while, McEnany eventually instead took a job of national spokesperson for the RNC, which raised eyebrows with Melania. The first lady texted Winston Wolkoff saying: “She prefer [sic] to do this than being [my] senior advisor? Seriously?”

The initiative eventually became “Be Best,” which Melania came up with herself, although Winston Wolkoff told her that the “phrase sounded illiterate” and should instead be “Be the Best” or “Be Your Best.” “No,” Winston Wolkoff writes. “Melania, lover of Sharpies, drew the two-word logo with block letters and said, ‘I drew it myself, so no one say I plagiarized it,” a likely reference to how Melania’s 2016 convention speech had plagiarized some of what Michelle Obama had said at a previous Democratic convention.

The author said that she wished she had Melania’s confidence and her ability to put herself first without thinking much of others.

Kellyanne Conway’s speech struck me as really strange, because we know she is used to speaking to the public. Here, her arms were stuck to the side of her body, which is not normal for her. She knows how to convey effective messaging, but this is not that. The energy and emphasis that we would normally see is lacking. The human brain seeks to see the hands, and public speakers usually use that to communicate effectively. I’ve seen her talk to the media at the White House, but here we see a much more restrained face, and, most noticeably, her arms don’t leave her side. You can speculate all you want about what psychological forces might have been acting on her, but what matters to me is that the presentation was unusual and the audience registers that, even if they can’t articulate it.

While there was no shortage of commentary about Melania Trump’s facial expression when Ivanka Trump joined the stage at the White House before Donald Trump’s speech, I think many people were reading too much into the moment. It may have appeared like she was betraying some deeper feelings about her daughter-in-law. But in this case, I believe the simplest explanation is likely the right one: that Melania’s smile momentarily lapsed as she turned her head. It’s certainly awkward on camera, but overall, the First Lady appears much more relaxed and comfortable standing alongside her husband in front of a crowd than she did earlier when she had to speak on his behalf.

So he’s saying Melania is very comfortable with her hatred of Ivanka.

Agree. I’m just handicapped by not having your gift of gab, ha. Fortunately she immediately got the message on the SC and agreed that’s a huge issue. (At one time she might have gone to law school.) She just didn’t see the progression to collapse of democracy, at least as I tried to lay it out. She’s young but smart. If she paid more attention she’d certainly get it. And it’s not as though she would vote ever for Trump.

His take was my take—it didn’t seem like a big deal.

Its a video from Dec 6, 2017 and it doesn’t really stand out to me given his usual behavior

Exactly one Scaramucci!

If you want to make the case for collapse, perhaps the best way is to ask her a series of questions to lead her to the conclusion that our democracy is not viable:

  1. Trump has about 40% approval, do you think more voters want him or Biden to be president?

  2. If Trump wins in those circumstances, are we a well-functioning democracy or do we have some systemic problems?

  3. How do we fix the problems? (she’ll probably say something like win elections and pass laws)

  4. How are we supposed to win the elections, given the problems actually prevent that?

  5. Tell her about some of the shenanigans the SCOTUS has already upheld or that’s never been stopped by law enforcement, legislation, or the courts - long lines at polling places in urban districts for a litany of reasons, gerrymandering, the USPS stuff.

  6. Who’s going to stop Trump and the GOP from making all of the above worse?

  7. If he wins and gets another justice or two, how do we ever overcome that?

  8. Remind her that they still have “elections” in Russia and other autocratic countries.
