I’ve been arguing on the golf forum for weeks that this is the ballgame, and even the few liberals there think I’m nuts.
in the category of “strike me down and I will become even more powerful,” if Trump is forced to evacuate the office in January then he’s not gonna go poof in a puff of hairspray, in part because his power isn’t bureaucratic it’s boots on the ground, and the most bewitched third of the country isn’t snapping out of this overnight, or ever.
Hey here’s a nightmare: What’s stopping Trump from running against a President Biden in 2024? Or more to the point, who in the current GOP could ever plausibly oppose him? Ok, literally Hannity, that’s one, and a few more to fill out Daniel Webster’s jury, but they’re all american monsters. One of the big lessons of Trump seems like gee, look at that, in the end 99.9% of all his plausible opposition turned out to be helpless careerist bootlicking ■■■■■■ whoever could have guessed it? In other words cue DVaut: “twas ever thus.” I don’t know dick about politics but there’s no battle for the soul of the GOP, whatever soul there was got itself plum exorcised by AM radio three decades ago.
I live in SF, I love so much about about northern california, but if my parents weren’t so old and if my nieces weren’t so young then man I’d be outta here for the 2020s, out of the country, honey don’t wait to start dinner, I’ll be back when the boomers die! And I’m legitimately sorry if that makes me twitchy or unreliable, I don’t feel great about it, but in the next decade the worst 10% of outcomes seem absolutely outrageous, and vicious, and so unhappy. We get this one life. I just ended a serious relationship with a woman who has dual citizenship here and Costa Rica, ah, a phenomenal mistake, I could be watching hummingbirds right now getting day drunk
I agree this could be the ballgame. Trump has already torn away at American institutions, trashed the rule of law and meddled in the elections process. And this is when he’s facing re-election. Four years of lame duck Trump could bring anything.
Our best hope is that the elections process is decentralized to the degree that it’ll be too tricky to actually rig. But we still need an overwhelming turnout and an undeniable Trump thrashing to keep his protests after the fact from being taken seriously.
Lol, $10K. He’d be selling signatures himself if he could get that.

I don’t see the fundamentals for broad war in Europe. Russia is fighting for oil and gas and money. They want to control these resources. Western Europe is their market. They want Western Europe to continue buying.
In WWII Germany wanted resources - oil and wheat. Japan wanted resources.
There is NO WAY half the American people watched the convention. S***, I grunched and missed you were joking.
Nancy even knows the guy, QAnon doofus John Ratlip!
It is so absurd to see the American President signing autographs like he is a washed up tv…wait a second…
Did i know this? I feel like I didn’t know this.
Given that it’s a requirement to be in the bottom 25% of IQ distribution to work at OAN this isn’t surprising.
I knew a person got fired after 11 days, I had no idea it was an OAN person.
Calling to arrest people for yelling at fucking Rand Paul, jfc
Yes. United Shates was one of his more memorable denture slips/stroke moments.
Hey, thanks for letting us all know about military plans.
Yeah I’ve been in your position on this numerous times. It’s so frustrating. If you tell it like it is, you sound nuts and they chalk it up to you being a conspiracy nutter or something. If you downplay it enough to where they believe you, then they won’t be that worried.
I think the best thing is to pick an issue that matters a lot to them and explain how that issue is completely fucked if he wins, without really getting into the fall of democracy.
Examples:
If Trump wins, it’s very unlikely that RBG will survive four more years. He’ll get to lock in a conservative majority on the court for decades, and Roe v. Wade will be overturned within a year.
If Trump wins, it’s very unlikely that RBG will survive four more years. He’ll get to lock in a conservative majority on the court for decades, and the ACA will be ruled unconstitutional and destroyed within a year.
I would not fear this, because there should be no DOJ/etc shenanigans. If the Dems also take the Senate and pass HR1+ I would welcome it, because we’d absolutely curb stomp him.
Move to PA or Michigan before you go, establish residency, and make sure you remember to get your absentee ballots. Buena suerte!
Great framing there by the CBS News Correspondent, a member of the so-called “liberal media.”
