The Pozzidency of Donald J. Trump: Typhoid Donnie's Slow Hypoxic Demise **Sweat Thread** (updated 100x/minute)

LOL @ the media in this country, hes been saying “health care plan coming in two weeks” for 4 years

And trying to start firestorms. With iirc, only one success and little real effect on German war production.

On top of bombing Germany we deliberately firebombed Tokyo as well

I almost want to give him credit for being dumb enough to think “repeal and replace” means you literally have to follow that order to replace Obamacare.

Yea he’s dumb but that’s not what’s happening

Also it occurs to me that USA will basically always commit these atrocities and during that time period will pretend it’s necessary or not happening at all. Then when we finally do accept it was bad down the road, we just say, well that was a long time ago and we didn’t know better but we do now, shame we didn’t know then, essentially. Rinse and repeat.

To be honest killing civilians in mass numbers was always going to happen when we entered total war.

Not to excuse how much it sucked, just I don’t think it was exceptionally evil because 100% of countries who fine themselves in total war like the us was, does the same thing.

Not to say the us didnt and isn’t committing tons of war crimes or crimes against humanity, just I dont think bombing civilians was was exceptionally evil so much as the logical conclusion of total war.

Though its possible I’ve listened to too many history podcasts

Sure, I don’t think bombing Dresden is the moral equivalent of running a death camp for various reasons. But we do have to recognize that there’s a bit of fine hairsplitting you have to make some acts of war acceptable and others crimes.

WWII was an extension of WW1. Should we have stayed out of WW1?

They never did it lol, come on Biden why haven’t you done the national mandate yet?

I think you could make a very strong case for staying out of world war 1. Not so in 2

We absolutely should have stayed out of WW1. Wilson ran for re-election on keeping us out. Then he got us into it(with the help of many others). The 1917 Espionage Act(now being used against Snowden and maybe? Reality Winner) was used to stifle dissent. Eugene Debs was imprisoned for making a speech where he simply told the truth.

ETA: Deb’s speech The Canton Speech

"The master class has always declared the wars; the subject class has always fought the battles. The master class has had all to gain and nothing to lose, while the subject class has had nothing to gain and all to lose — especially their lives.

They have always taught and trained you to believe it to be your patriotic duty to go to war and to have yourselves slaughtered at their command. But in all the history of the world you, the people, have never had a voice in declaring war, and strange as it certainly appears, no war by any nation in any age has ever been declared by the people."

Interesting points. I’ve definitely got some reading to do.

Yes, and other Japanese cities, with a resulting death toll greater than that of the nuclear bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

I was referring to British attempts to start firestorms in Germany. There is an interesting account by physicist Freeman Dyson here
