The NHL Thread: It’s Back

Doesn’t matter at all.

I remember reading about him when it happened. When they invited him to the game he was like, “What am I supposed to wear in there? Is it cold?”

They told him not to worry about it, and when he arrived they took him to the gift shop and gave him a lot of merch, including the jersey that he was wearing.

Well, McDavid might break the all time record for points in the playoffs. Something everyone would have thought was unbreakable.

Catching on a few years before they win their first cup. Nice.

Well they did call penalties

Just not on the Oilers ¯_(ツ)_/¯

game 1:
4 called on Edmonton, 5 called on Florida

game 2:
9(?) called on Edmonton, 5 called on Florida

game 3:
3 called on Edmonton, 5 called on Florida

game 4:
4 called on Edmonton, 6 called on Florida

game 5:
4 called on Edmonton, 6 called on Florida

In the regular season, Florida was 2nd in penalty minutes (2 minutes behind Anaheim) while Edmonton was eleventh. Dirty team going to dirty. Whine better and penalty less

The actual dirty secret is that Nhl reffing has a distinct bias toward equalizing PP opportunities for each team, especially in the playoffs. Refs will avoid the appearance of favoritism so no game will have a 7-3 PPs edge for any team, no matter how deserved.

KONY,
If you are going to make that argument, do it right. Measure non-automatic minor and major penalties that gave the opponent a PP. Penalty minutes isn’t the same thing.

agreed, but that was all I could quickly pull together in 3 minutes I had while sitting on the can. sorta still makes the point though

I’m talking about game 5

Multiple soft calls vs the panthers and when they have a chance to make a soft call vs the oilers. They don’t.

I’m not saying every game. This has been the first game all season it’s been obvious

The lol dive penalty + the no call too many men + the soft as f tripping call on Florida when no scoring chance was created nor denied

It’s pretty clear the league wants game 6

And I’m here to argue all those calls were the correct ones, meanwhile you have Sam Bennett just skating into the goalie to try and get him off his game and no call occurring.

I hear that live poker is rigged also.

We will see tonight.

sure. if Florida wins it’s bc they overcame the riggage but if they lose it’s bc of the riggage.

sport imitates life, indubidably

Lol

Anyone else watching this game? Matthew Tkachuk has been totally invisible.

Yes and T20 and MLB.

Went to bed, thought i had set an alarm, woke up an hour late to watch.

As a Barkov fan this is so depressing. Oh well, I guess there’s one bullet left.

Is Barkov good?
