The NFL Thread 2: 1. T Swift

Haha the NFL statement opens up with “The investigation conclusively established that … no one instructed Mr. Flores to lose games”

Then in point 3 it says “One such comment is a claimed offer by Mr. Ross to pay Coach Flores 100k for each loss, as to which there are differing recollections about the wording, timing and context”

Sounds really conclusive. Or they mean instructed in the most narrow sense like no one sat Flores down in a classroom and stood at a lectern with a PowerPoint explaining why they want to tank.

at least the dolphins won’t be tanking this year, they’ll just suck

NFL appealing. Apparently Watson can’t contest factual findings so appeal just about punishment.

Guess the public outcry was loud enough so now we move to Rog’s Kangaroo Court.

Finding a way to fine him his entire 2023 salary would probably hurt him more than extending his suspension for the entire season.

I think I said this before. Justice is playing this year and suspended all of 2023. I’d seperatey fine the Browns $45M or whatever the 2023 salary is.

The CBA says that if there is an appeal, the decision by Goodell or his designee is “full, final and complete” and binding on all parties

so the NFL is appealing … to the NFL?

players union couldn’t have actually agreed to that right, right

watson isn’t gonna challenge this if it’s just 6 games. A full season tho yeah

Sounds like Goodell is appealing to himself or someone he gets to designate

after looking it up, it does appear that indeed, the players union is really f’ing stupid

Yeah,

following a process agreed upon in the collective bargaining agreement between the league and the N.F.L. Players Association, the appeal will be heard by Commissioner Roger Goodell or a person of his choosing. The league did not immediately say who would oversee the appeal, which will be heard on an “expedited” basis.

They weren’t happy with Goodell’s disciplinary rulings, so they negotiated to get an independent arbitrator o/w whose ruling could be appealed to Goodell and he would have the final say

How do you get mad that the boss is judge jury and executioner so you make a deal where the boss gets to pick who the JJE is, including himself?

Demaurice Smith the OG eDem

From the players’ perspective the new CBA is at least slightly better. Now the facts and whether they support a violation are determined by the independent arbiter and that determination can’t be appealed. So if she had found no violation by Watson, the NFL couldn’t do anything. So all NFL can appeal and change are the terms of the punishment.

Sucked when people were hating on Chad during his career. Guy was just having fun and being himself.

Disregarding the bad Spanish, Chad legally changing his last name to Ochocinco to have it on his jersey is an alpha move.
