edit–okay that’s all 3. 2 busts (though nugent did kick awhile in the league) and a guy who wasn’t a bust but was never the best one in the league
it’s funny how the two most decorated college kickers ever (lee (86 draft) and aguayo)… have lasted like one season in the NFL and never again
Those are the only three I know in the past 30 years.
Another two from further back are Russell Erxleben and Charlie Gogolak. The former got his name out there with a record-setting 67 yard field goal at UT (on a kicking tee though lol) and punted in the NFL while Charlie Gogolak and his bro invented the way kickers kick footballs today by using soccer-style kicking instead of straight-on kicks.
Apparently the GOAT college punter is up in this draft class, will be interesting to see how high he goes

I think 70 + yards in the air is worth a 3rd rd stab.
Given ideal conditions, I wager that most currently employed punters can get in the 70 yard range in the air.

but there is some bust risk, he didn’t really try to pooch punt there and if he gets a ST coach who’s all no kick it short for coverage and screws with him. welp
Ariaza has something like 30 percent of his pooch punts go for touchbacks, which is really bad. And not a lot of experience in cold weather which matters to some teams. He’s still the best punting prospect I can remember but he’s not flawless.
Russell Erxelben did the same for Texas and he’s most known for going to jail for securities fraud and money laundering…twice.

Only way I’m taking a punter is if he can, with the ball snapped from his own 40, consistently drop it inside the 5 and have it pop straight up.
