The NFL Thread 2: 1. T Swift

Why is that a problem?

It’s considered gauche.

How much of an actual problem that is would be a matter of opinion, I suppose.

So standard establishment desire to favor being civil and orderly over telling the truth?

I’m all for saying bad things about bad people when they die but there’s no reason to throw in what schefter did.

Absolutely brutal. Hit by a dump truck.

Is it a bad thing to point out that someone was a fringe NFL player? Feels like an explanation for why I don’t know who he is and shouldn’t feel bad that I don’t.

This dude is not some evil POS as far as I know.

No one is saying we should lie in this case. It’s just not really relevant.

It’s not like they described him as a first round draft bust who got fined multiple times for breaking COVID protocols and allegedly got beat up by his wife.

RIP Dwayne Haskins. Say hello to my grandma. Wrong fricking thread getting bumped got damnit.

Bloody awful news. RIP Buckeye.

What’s the correct amount of time to wait before it is considered not ill-mannered to refer Dwayne Haskins as a first-round draft bust?

When it actually has relevance? His tragic death has nothing to do with his performance on the field, so talking smack about his performance has no place in a death announcement or discussion of his death. If you are having a conversation about the chances of drafting a successful quarterback outside of the top 10 picks, you can bring up his play.

He already flamed out in Washington and was a bust for them, so I guess that’s fair. In Pittsburgh he was a success in that he hung around on the roster and was a beloved teammate and a contributor as a scout team qb. He might have still rehabilitated himself and built a career if he had a few years of stability out of the limelight. Probably not but could have happened.

Regardless, in a league full of sexual assaulters and spousal abusers he seemed like a good dude who happened to like strip clubs and not give a shit about Covid protocols which are more forgivable sins to me.

Has there been any reporting on why the fuck he was trying to cross a highway?

To get to the other….

Sorry no time for jokes.

No reporting, but I’ve seen rumors that his car broke down. Might be people just trying to float the most plausible idea in the hopes that they can claim they were first if it ends up being true.
