The NFL Thread 2: 1. T Swift

Seems like it’s been absolutely crazy this year with in-season trades.

seems easier to manuever the salary cap these days during the season than it used to be so we’re getting more of these

agents seem more willing to work with teams on that as well

toney seems like the hey what if we had a fast guy like tyreek move for KC

except he sucks and is always injured gl

Isn’t it almost always to the player’s benefit? When were agents ever not willing to help reduce cap numbers? The move is always converting salary and / or roster bonuses which hit current year cap to signing bonuses which spread across all years remaining. The player gets the cash immediately and the lower salary is better for the play in case of fines, injuries, getting cut, etc.

Toney has crazy potential but got unlucky with injuries and was never really in with Daboll and his staff.

Dude could break out big if he can stay healthy.

The player the Giants really need to dump is Kenny Golladay. That and FIX THE FUCKING TURF

No one in their right mind would take Golladay. You would have to give Golladay plus a pick to get someone to take him and his obscene contract.

Even if they have to take a dead money hit to cut him, they should.

I have no idea what happened to that guy. Guess he got the big contract and no longer had an incentive to work.

EDIT: Fuck what I said. $25M is a lot of dead money.

I never thought he was any good. Just a league average guy who got a lot of garbage time production on a team without many other people to throw to. I was surprised they (or anyone) paid him real money.

He was pretty solid until he fucked up his hip in 2020. Guess Giants figured he was fully recovered from that.

But really he’s been injury-prone as hell since and has half-assed it on the field since getting his bag. Typical Gettleman move. Shocked that the dumb fuck ever got a job in the league.

Nothing happened to him. He was OK in Detroit but there is a reason we didn’t sign him for 18+ a year

I’m all for dragging Russell Wilson.

But Aaron Rodgers literally just said the worst thing an NFL QB can say. He threw his his teammates under the bus, then said it’s not his fault because his own QB coach said he graded out well in a loss. Aaaaaand it’s completely out of the pundit-cycle in a day.

Now let’s imagine if Lamar Jackson had made those comments. Or say Cam Newton. There would be a shit ton of commentary and hand-wringing, with unspoken subtext about black QBs being selfish and just in it for themselves. But if it’s Rodgers - well he’s just a weirdo douchebag. That old scamp.

It’s funny, I’ve realized that as I get older, I care less and less about sports drama and punditry. Shit like what Rodgers said or Ben Simmons afraid to do anything on offense or, I don’t know, whatever the fuck is going on with the Lakers…I just don’t give a shit. Who fucking cares about any of it? I’m happy just watching my teams. OH SHIT SOME ATHLETE LIKED A TWEET ABOUT ANOTHER TEAM!

I used to watch ESPN talking head shows and listen to sports radio all the time. Now I almost never do. As if I really care what Stephen A has to say about Kyrie. And don’t get me started on team message boards. I don’t need yet another person weighing in on the Josh Hader trade.

The Russell Wilson stuff is kind of funny, so whatever. The Rodgers stuff to me, as a fan, is just nonsense drama that I’m guessing the media and fans care way more about than the players do (I could be wrong, of course).

Agreed. I have less than zero tolerance for the Stephen a. And skip b. ‘s of the world, and all the others who push sports in a similar vain. I don’t even watch ESPN or look at ESPN.com unless it is for a specific game.

I’ve basically limited my sports consumption to actual games and a few podcasts, and my life is much better off for it.

Yeah simply too many games to watch I have no time for punditry any more. I used to eat it all up though.

I watch PTI and Around the Horn during the NFL season - which I like to have on as background.

Between that and twitter I’m always up on the Zeitgeist of sports punditry.

drama gets people but yes growing up is realizing how little to give a shit about what trolls and shit stirrers like tv punditry say

Good Seahawks fan video, even for the haters and losers:
