Yeah. I think I’m getting a lost in translation moment. It’s kids stuff. Seems not weird at all. And those kids (and the adults) are having a blast.
He’s a well-known comedian here in Japan who’s been doing this same act for 20 years–and is known only for doing this one act.
My perception was that this would seem really odd to the outside world, but apparently that’s not the case so I think I’ll just take the L on this one.

Would adults go see this without kids?
The act originally was targeted toward adults. A grown man in a speedo throwing a humorous childlike temper tantrum is basically what’s going on here.
Usually one-hit acts like these fizzle out after a few months and we never hear from them again.
But somehow, the guy’s kept his act afloat all these years by going around to local schools and performing mainly to kids now, who as you can see in the video absolutely love it.
I mean. Keeping in Speedo shape for that long is an achievement in itself.
No doubt.
But if he ever does get out of shape, he can always just join this guy’s act:
