You ever see someone you care about make a decision that you know is going to end poorly, but there is nothing you can do to stop them? Yup. My 63 year old dad decided to quit his job and start a new one where he is going to be traveling all across the country by himself working. He isn’t going to like it. It’s not going to end well, and he ignored my advice on not doing it.

Did he even supply any reasons in support of the change?

My mother in law is on a path to be completely dependent on her kids for the next 20+ years. I see it coming and there’s absolutely nothing I can do to stop it, just a slow motion car wreck. Sucks.

Why should generations be completely independent?

Not really. I mean he was tired of doing manual labor which I understand, but he also isn’t cut out to be alone. If I had to guess he is using the job change as an excuse for his unhappiness due to my moms unwillingness to do anything fun at all.

Yeah that’s tough. Change for the sake of change is always tempting, but doesn’t have a great track record.

30-50 year olds with jobs and kids of their own already have enough to deal with without that burden.

Yup. Same with my parents. They filed bankruptcy while I was in college. They are early 60s with hardly anything but debt to their names. The only possible saving grace is that my grandparents hopefully leave them enough to retire once they pass. Who knows though. I just don’t want the burden for their incompetence at handling money even though they provided a great life for me growing up.

American individualism is bad. More interdependence is good.

Lol no, Boomers had it so fucking easy and it is not our responsibility to pay for them to live in the style they’ve grown accustomed after they run out of money.

Haha wow.

If the boomers run out of money in old age maybe they should stop eating avocado toast.
