Did unstuck ever come to a consensus on whether Trump is smart or not? I personally have gone back and forth and now think he is smarter than I (and most liberals afaict) have generally given him credit for, but still not particularly smart.
He is more an early adopter of aggression (re poker strat). He has been at it a long time and rarely ever gets called, and even when he does, he doubles down via the legal system which can’t imagine what he is doing and let’s him off the hook, time after time.
But yeah, he’s not calculating EV. It’s the same move every time. It just keeps working.

He’s a rich imbecile. When you’re a rich imbecile you can appear to be “smart” because your failures never come home to roost. Trump gets credit for being a “smart manipulator” but it’s only because he’s a rich asshole. Rich assholes are successful doing stuff (like being a monstrous asshole) that other people would be punished for.

Coincidentally, I remember an episode of the Drew Carey show where he was being evicted or something like that and he wouldn’t leave, so the bank or whoever the villain was blasted Van Halen’s Panama on a loop to get him to surrender.
