One of these days I’m going to click into this thread and there will actually be 38 uninterrupted Trump posts and I will totally be like

lol I’m not a web dev and can’t guess at what causes this but I can take some wild guesses
Pretty sure it’s just a WAF. They are either blocking requests originating from the UP server or the user agent Discourse uses to fetch static images and Opengraph tags.
ETA: I implemented the WAF for my company and then had to deal with a bunch of customer tickets related to their automation getting 403s afterwards. So I might just be seeing a nail that needs to be hit with a hammer.
Cowards!
Yeah, it’s probably this. The bot got tagged for being a bot and we’re either rate limited or completely blocked.
could get around this with clever use of aws lambdas, probably

It seems… unlikely they would manually block this place. Whats the bot’s useragent?
Isnt it fair to assume that truth is underfunded, not profitable, and probably under capacity?
Spending limited resources to send images offsite without ad revenue seems like something they would try and avoid?
is there some default cidr range that aws lambdas use if you dont attach it to a gateway or vpc? probably a decent source of bots they coulda just blacklisted entirely
the lambdas probably have an auth token tied to goofys account. it would be just marked as bot at that level, no? feels like that’s a platform management feature.
i didnt know he was using an auth token from truth
pretty sure you need some type of auth to scrape programatically. unless your html parsing skills are elite. not saying goofy code isn’t elite. but … well, he probably doesn’t want trmp bot to be on his tombstone or resume.
