I think Garland’s reluctance to prosecute Trump is entirely because he realizes he would be launching the country into a phase where a President’s term in the White House is likely to be followed by a term in the Big House. He doesn’t want to be the one to make it happen. But I’m not sure there’s a choice. The Republicans have basically indicated they want instant revenge against the DOJ and Democrats in Congress regardless of whether Trump was the most corrupt person in the history of the country. I don’t think it’s about fear of reprisal in the physical sense, but fear that the country is heading for an even darker place politically.

The justice system routinely prosecutes gang members and members of terrorist organizations. No sympathy for these clowns who are afraid of prosecuting Trump, do your damn job or quit.

You are calling people cowards when you are so afraid to go for a walk you wear a gun. You started the insults so acting like somehow pointing that out is beyond the pale is pretty funny.
I’ll leave out the last sentance so my post will remain unflagged for you.
I don’t really disagree with this but if there was anyone willing to do it then it would have happened by now. The next man up isn’t likely to be any better.
And again I’m not pointing out what should happen. Merely making the point that I think fear of the consequences is playing into it for these people.

What other plausible theories are there besides fear of personal or political consequences? I’m having a hard time coming up with anything when he has been dead to rights on a bunch of stuff.
I also think Y’all queda is orders of magnitude scarier than gang members and probably non-domestic terrorists. We all watched them literally successfully siege the US capitol building and attempt to hang Pence and kill or kidnap congresscritters. The fact they are white and are already literally everywhere theoughout the country means they blend in enough to be in these people’s neighborhoods without the police getting called by neighborhood watch.
