So we can just put people wherever we want to now? Have they no say in the matter? And what are they supposed to do at the camps? Watch movies? Just hang out like homeless people do?

Dems counter should be to lease/buy empty commercial space in cities from big corporations, convert some of it to housing, and create a jobs program for the homeless where they work in/near those buildings for state and federal government agencies. Those who are unable to work get taken care of, of course, and likely moved somewhere specialized for care/rehab based on their specific physical/mental needs.
You could probably get that program to net out to zero or very low cost to the taxpayer, maybe even less than Trump’s concentration camps, by charging them for the housing at cost once they’re set up in one of the jobs. You could improve the efficiency of programs like unemployment, the VA, etc, that are currently understaffed.
I think Trump honestly believes that all of his ideas are original strokes of genius, when in fact, most are just bad ideas which have already been considered and rejected.
