If somebody dies from drinking bleach but it turns out they had COVID, the hospital classifies it as a COVID death and gets an extra $62,000.

This. Technically forgiven medical debt could be considered taxable, but it’s up to the entity to file the correct form and if they do they are required to send it to you as well prior to Jan 30.
