Once had opposing counsel go off on the judge presiding over the trial becuase the attorney was so dumb and bad on the law that the judge laughed at one of his arguments. Can confirm, not a good sign.

I’ve found that having a ridiculously inept defense attorney can sometimes generate sympathy with the jury. Obviously not what’s happening here of course.

Completely disagree with people saying this is theater, don’t drag it out. That’s wrong. You want Dems to learn something from the Rs? Well here it is, that shit works! Benghazi these assholes into submission. It’s a war of attrition. Subpoena witnesses. Let them fight it, spend money, tie up the courts, whatever. After the trial, the investigations should go on. Rub their faces in the truth at every opportunity.

If you want to skip witnesses, skip witnesses. It was a close call.
To take a vote on it, win, then back down when the other side freaks out is just indefensible. These people just don’t get it.
2022 is a long way away but this is just so demoralizing for Democratic voters. They just never deliver. “The other guys are bad” isn’t going to cut it forever.

The problem with this is that the Senate can’t do other business during an impeachment trial without unanimous consent, and there’s a lot of important other business that needs doing.
Thought someone upthread said the Senate is in recess for 10 days.
I mean, idk but I just find it very hard to believe that if they couldn’t do it in parallel that they couldn’t just do trial work 3 days a week or whatever.
