Can the Democrats even call witnesses without changing the agreed upon rules?
If the Covid relief bill can’t pass until March, and it won’t delay it, I guess there is no reason not to call them now. They can probably refuse to testify and tie it up in court forever though.

I’ll disagree with rv in the sense that if Mitch wants 
convicted that then means he speaks for the will of donors and powerful institutional players who are willing to deal with the fallout, and since most R senators still serve that constituency then imo it would happen because they’re lapdogs for that same constituency. In other words, Cocaine Mitch would only ever be for conviction if it was in his best interest, it’s not like any of these fucks are voting their conscience.

It never ceases to amaze me how a man so astonishingly horrible and destructive in every aspect of his life has not only managed to completely escape consequence and accountability in this world, but is instead perpetually rewarded for those same traits. Like I look at Trump and feel rage, and then I look at the world and systems that pushed that fuck to the top of it and realize rage is just the beginning.

Unfortunately the funniest outcome would be getting Trump on the stand to Colonel Jessup himself and then not get convicted anyway. Democrats did the right thing but they’ve unwittingly also demonstrated that our entire government is a farce wrt accountability.

We just need to appeal to manchin and tell him his vote could change the history and save our democracy or doom it.
