COVID and SCOTUS are topics tonight. I do think there’s been a lot of consistency in Dem messaging - the last two weeks in the case of SCOTUS, and longer for COVID - using these two topics are an opportunity to pound healthcare, healthcare, healthcare. I expect Joe to do so tonight as well. Taxes have been a bit of a distraction the last couple of days, but I’m confident that his handlers are smart enough to get him to pivot from this to the issues Trolly references.
Anyone who did this would be a legend among literally dozens of people
This is the old white dude version of a rap battle. I wish Biden would forget policy points and treat it as such. If you can work a clever policy reference inside a sick burn, then do so, but the burn comes first.
Good god at taking a drink at just this. That is instant death.
Her ego might be bigger than trumps…
I have to admit I am a bit nervous about this one. We are one Joe Biden mega-gaffe from doomsday. I think he will be fine but there is that small part of my brain I can’t shut off that worries about this.
Yeah each big event with a lot of eyeballs on it is like being all-in for your entire net worth on a K62r flop with AK vs AK but your opponent has a backdoor flush draw. No upside, immense downside.
Biden has prepared for this for months. He’ll be fine.
Meh. There are two more debates after this one. And the news cycle spins quickly. We’ve already forgotten about Trump calling dead soldiers “suckers and losers”. We’ll forget about his tax returns soon. I don’t see the debate being consequential. Entertaining though…for sure.
It’s a double standard. Anything Biden fucks up WILL stick for the remaining five weeks.
I am drinking my first glass of wine and listening to some Coltrane on my patio before company shows up to watch this shitshow. It is helping to bring my blood pressure down. You make a good point and I hope/think you are right.
The debate can only be consequential for Biden imo. Trump could do anything and lose roughly zero support. This is all about Biden shoring up the reluctant Biden voters imo.
The debate’s main consequence is how it shapes the media narrative. Republicans have always been better at getting the media to do tricks for them. Dems need to treat the media as subhuman lackwits and stop with this expectation of the media doing its “job”.
Think about what you want the media post-debate narrative to be and that will make it obvious which talking points Biden should be pressing during the debate.
For the first time ever I cannot keep up with all my subscribed threads on here. The volume is that much more the last week and change. It seems we are all gearing up and fully engaged for the stretch run.
Hopefully, there’s like a 1 hour preshow i can watch and drink to
What time is this thing tonight? 9 EST?
Anybody dumb enough at this point to not know a fucking rotting stump would do a better job than Trump isn’t likely to be convinced by anything that might happen in this debate. I find it preposterous we’re even having debates this election.
There are a lot of people who pay virtually no attention to politics ever, except to watch the debates.
And they haven’t noticed the entire country turning into a shithole?
