You might be right about this but there does seem to be a whiff of hypersensitivity that goes in the other direction as well. An important and well regarded member of the forum, who happens to be a guy, posted what seemed to be an innocuous poll in the movie thread asking whose career you would want to have. Since the poll only contained men, it was less than an hour before a competing poll with only women was then posted.
Maybe the original poll should have acknowledged the lack of women and the desire to take the conversation in that direction at some point as well, but the quick response spoke to the mindset that seems to be in place too.
