Not a fan, but I’m also not a fan of banks blocking average Russian citizens’ access to their accounts/credit cards/etc. I think going after Russian citizens is easy and popular, but in the end is not an effect use of sanctions. To the extent Russians are directly hurt by these type of sanctions, I think they’re more likely to blame the West than Putin.

Someone suggested block foreign assets over $10M or something, which is a small group of a few 1000 Russians, but all of them have gotten rich off the regime. Puts pressure on the the rich w/o crushing regular citizens.
Doesn’t really surprise me. If you recall, Coinbase/Kraken did their best to warn users about this during the Canada situation weeks ago.
Coinbase is a public company. They ultimately will have no choice but to dance to whatever sanctions tune western governments call.
Having any assets on Coinbase today as a Russian citizen already mega lol.
