The Crapto Thread

The SEC can only enforce certain securities laws and only brings civil (not criminal) actions. In practice the SEC and DOJ jurisdiction heavily overlap with respect to most securities violations. If something is a crime with respect to securities, the SEC probably has jurisdiction to bring a civil action

There are plenty of lesser violations that violate SEC rules/laws but don’t rise to the level of criminal (things like failing to properly register a security, taking too long to file your annual report, etc.)

The praying emoji is a nice touch

Binance is always blocking transactions on one chain or another for hours or days. That’s not to say they aren’t doing shady stuff and won’t suddenly implode or whatever. But temporarily limiting exchanges for one coin doesn’t mean much, and reportedly it’s already been restored.

sbf is very christlike here, actually. he’s giving his life to save crypto.

committing that level of fraud, and having nothing happen? going on every tv show to talk about what he did and to never be arrested or charged? and to just get away with it because “crypto” is a negative outcome for crypto. i think the more punitive the punishment for sam, the better it makes crypto as an industry look.

so i applaud sam. he’s been saying for a while he wants to do the most good for the world, so i assume this was all on purpose. a masterstroke of effective altruism genius. the denying ea in private to a reporter? that’s all part of it, that was on purpose, he didn’t forget he was talking to a reporter. it’s all going according to plan, and i can’t wait to see what the 5d chessmaster does next

Am I wrong to think CZ is the same as SBF, just another fraudster with different sheep’s clothing?

17 years ago i flew from israel to nassau for a poker tournament i won a sat for online. i was 22 year old student, never played a live poker game in my life and was scared shitless.

when i landed in nassau the immigration officer asked what am i there for. i mumbled very nervously something with poker and tournament and money. found myself in the immigration office with quite a few armed security guys. not my most fond memory. and i wasn’t even vegan. gl SBF

@BestOf legit lolling

Is CZ probably kind of a scumbag? Yeah, probably, why wouldn’t he be. Is Binance a fraudulent operation like FTX? Very unlikely.
