I am fully for the stigmatization of anyone with an untreated personality disorder. The treatment methods basically don’t work, but at least if they are in treatment I can spin it in my head that they are evil but at least trying not to be.
I’m of the opinion that personality disorders are how psychology describes the existence of evil people in the world. I have a tiny amount of sympathy for the people who have them because they have to live inside their own heads and that sounds like it sucks…
But dude I can’t sit still with my thoughts either because of what some people with personality disorders did to me when I was too young to even try to escape. I admit I’m biased but finding sympathy for them is really hard for me. I know logically that they are suffering too, but they generally inflict way more suffering than the experience from what I’ve seen.
And let’s be really clear from an experiential perspective I’d much rather have NPD than ADHD, clinical depression, and PTSD… So I’ve got the worlds smallest violin to play for them (my dad’s favorite way to express his non sympathy for whatever emotions someone else was experiencing).
The only reason I can talk about it so freely is that I realized the shame it makes me feel they put there to make themselves look good while they were hurting me… and talking about it feels like a fuck you to them.
In other news Trumps era has not been fun for me lol.
