This brew comes from one of San Diego’s finest micros, Pure Project. It’s their Force of Nature, Murky IPA. They call their hazys, murkys.
i bought a 6 pack of this and been enjoying it a lot.
I’m on day 11 of some bullshit dry January thing my wife and I are doing. All I want is some sweet sweet hazy hops. I can only drink so much kombucha and sparking water. Can’t wait to get back out to SD for some Murkshake.
Those look good!
How did it go with the seedlip drinks BTW? I ordered a 3-pack but they haven’t arrived yet. My wife is in day 2 of her 2-week alcohol cleansing and she’s starting to get edgy!
Phase 3 is fantastic. I met some guys at last years 450 North Corn Maze beer fest that hooked me up with some sort of Neapolitan BBA stout of theirs and it was mind-blowing. I don’t remember the name, but it’s probably on my Untappd.
Oh shit! My apologies, I totally forgot a follow up.
Well, that night we only made the margarita, and it was just eh when compared to a real margarita. Turns out that little tequila heat is pretty necessary.
BUT, when I say “eh” I’m comparing it to a real margarita which maybe isn’t fair. It was really quite tasty. A little too heavy on the lime juice, but we can adjust that next time.
Yeah, a buddy of mine got me hooked. I actually was going to buy some Pixel Density and while I was checking out the clerk was like, “oh have you had the lite before?” and I realized I had grabbed a “lite” version of pixel density which I never knew existed. I actually have never heard of a lite double ipa before. Anyway, after he told me I passed and picked up a different 4 pack.
Thanks! I don’t expect them to be close to the real thing, but some variety on the nonalcoholic drinks will be definetly welcomed.
Got this a few months ago from a store that didn’t have the rum / rhum agricole I wanted, so they recommended this instead. I wouldn’t use it in a Ti’ Punch or other cocktail, but it’s really good by itself, a bit buttery, a bit peppery. Would recommend. Debating getting into it tonight.
Update: I did. Also got out my bottle of this; I was really into this early 2020 but hadn’t drank it as much since I got into rum.
At least it’s not a shwag beer.
Beginning stages of our lower level bar. These won’t stay here like this but I’ll probably keep a few out for decoration.
Smuggler’s Cove has a great hot buttered rum recipe. I had to alter it a little since we didn’t quite have all the ingredients, but it turned out very well. Would recommend with Pusser’s.
I basically just mix butter with some appropriate spices (nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon) and combine with rum, cream, sugar, hit water. Is there a more sophisticated recipe?
It’s not terribly different; they just have a recipe for a specific batter of various sugars and spices, so i make a batch of that, then just save it. put some in a glass and add rum and boiling water. I can find the recipe when I, uh, feel like getting up and looking for the book.
Their recipe (makes about 4 cups of batter / 48 servings, so, uh, cut it down if you need to):
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground nutmeg
1 tsp ground black pepper
3/4 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp ground allspice
1/2 tsp ground anise seed
2 c. salted butter
4 c. packed brown sugar
2 tbsp mild molasses
1 tsp vanilla extract
melt the butter over low heat. add sugar and stir. add molasses and vanilla extract and stir. add the spice mix and stir. keep stirring on low heat until all ingredients combine (the butter will start to separate during this; keep going until it re-combines). after it’s all combined set aside and let cool.
for the hot buttered rum, use “3 barspoons” of the batter in an Irish Coffee glass, 1 1/2 oz blended aged rum, top with hot water, garnish with cinnamon stick. (like I said, I use the Pusser’s for the rum.)
