The beer, wine, and spirits thread

Grunching, any of you brew your own beers? If we have a few I’ll start up a thread.

I did a long time ago with a friend who has since died and should have asked for his brewing stuff but never did. I know jack all about most of it though without reading again. This was like 1997 or 1998. I’ve been meaning to purchase a kit again though. I asked here or on 2p2 what to buy even once but still never got around to it.

We made this once during our brewing and it was so good. The recipe is online. The internet barely started then, I can’t remember where we got the recipe from. I think it may have been on the bottles.

The best time of the year - fresh hop season:

In the midwest, there are several good fresh hop beers:

  • Founders Harvest Ale
  • Columbus Brewing Company Yakima Fresh
  • Fat Head’s Hop Stalker

I think this one is my favorite. Then again, I like most everything Fat Head’s does.

I have yet to try #2, #4, and #10.

I too am not a fan of liquid desserts so this looks better. Which brewery is it? You’re in the bay area if i remember correctly

Blueberry melomel (mead) I left in primary way too long.

I’m so bad at Twitter I can’t tell if the current position of the White House is to reject the request or not. Help? Edit: this did not render the same as I was looking at it on a different site. On the other site there is a another tweet under this one that said the White House approved it. I can’t figure out what the current status is, approved or rejected.

Haha wrong thread?

No I put it in here on purpose because the fires have done massive damage to the Napa Valley. We were talking about it earlier in the thread.

Yup I’m dumb. :sunglasses:

Abyss was one of the first BA stouts I had back in the day. I haven’t had Deschutes in years, but they used to make killer shelf beers.

I went to the liquor store for the first time in awhile today to grab some beer for the weekend and I ended up walking out empty handed. Not a single thing called out to me knowing that I could just go to any of the 4-5 fantastic breweries here and support them. So many of the beers had been sitting on the shelf for months.

Is it possible to not be an alcoholic but just be addicted to a certain type of hops?

Citra all day ftw

I didn’t like any beer other than boring lagers for years until a neighbor left a box of craft beers on our door steps because he was moving or some weird reasoning.
One of them with a Citra Pale Ale from Cigar City brewery and it got me hooked on craft ales.

So yeah, i approve this message.

Ok. This one will have skeptics and I TOTALLY understand.

A milkshake ipa with mosaic hops, coffee, milk sugar, and vanilla.

This is from a very respectable brewery around here and I passed on it because it sounds disgusting. A friend, whose palette I trust, told me to check it out so I grabbed a 4 pack. It’s honestly pretty amazing. They pulled off a coffee ipa.

Wrapped up my Michigan trip with a haul of Transient. Absolutely killer brewery in Bridgman.

I’ll be having a few of these on election night. Maybe all of them.
