Texas power outages and Ted Cruz travel agency

Lubbock is 15 atm, with 8 for tonights low. Cold but nbd. 40’s tomorrow and 50’s saturday.
I think we will fade this one.

Wow, sorry but statistically we have enough Texans here that we need at least one of you to succumb in order to generate the needed outrage to elect Beto.

Just kidding. Stay safe and stay warm. $5,000 and $200 couches both burn the same in a pinch.

How about governor’s mansions, do they burn well in a pinch?

I know I’m a broken record, but I just don’t see a path for Beto. His best shot was running against Cornyn and he sat out. And yeah, his positions on firearms destroyed him here, imo. Let’s see what happens, but Retrodamus predicts the very insane Allen West will win Governor, this time out.

ETA: The red suburbs used CRT to consolidate their stranglehold. Our recent county elections are going 70/30. I’m in the 30. Good times.

I agree with all of this. I think his, or frankly any Dem in this cycle’s path to the governor’s mansion is some kind of epic gubernatorial incompetence.

This storm had a tiny chance of triggering that pathway. Like a year after the shit show that should have led to an overhaul of how the state’s power grid is run and functions, they did nothing, and another storm did the same thing and caused catastrophic outages in the swingy Dallas/Ft Worth suburbs, among other places? That at least gives the Dem a bit of equity.

I’d actually rather not have Beto run, because of the gun thing. I think he’s just going to try to raise a shit load of money, build up a war chest, spend as little of it as he can, and use the leftovers to either run for president again or hand over to the right eDems to get himself a cabinet post in the second half of this administration or the next one… which he can use as a platform for a future presidential run.

Wait… what? I thought Abbott was a massive favorite in the GOP primary?

MSU grad would know

I was waiting for someone to get that.

Bravo! Lots of opportunities the last 14 years.

He probably is, but I know Allen West is connecting with the furthest right. Abbot is not nearly deplorable enough, imo.

Isn’t the deal they didn’t cancel those bills?

There is testimony and discovery in a trial of a power co-op that had to declare bankruptcy because of their costs.

Solar’s not super great in winter but if you need a power source to be outputting from 3 to 8 PM during the longest days of the year

Is that a whole table of deplorables?

Fwiw, this isn’t quite true. They took some steps to prevent a repeat of the February ’21 catastrophe, such as mandate that natural gas plants have >7 days worth of a second fuel on site at all times. But the shits all still old and in bad shape and it’s ridiculous that our lives depend on stuff that can break down at any time.

There’s no profit in keeping things well maintained. Bridges, factories, societies it’s all the same.
