Tennis anyone?

I just thought Federer et al were bathing daily in the blood of nutritive street urchins, not necessarily hitting the biker coffee between sets. Oh well.

Sabalenka is the worst screamer / grunter I’ve ever seen. So annoying.

That depends on context. I assume you mean on the tennis court.

Two years ago I was at Indian Wells and Sabalenka’s screams were audible from two courts away… While she was in the practice courts!

I don’t know if it’s a belorussian thing, because Azarenka is also pretty loud. I love how they both play though.

Muchova looks like Halep’s twin?

Federer looks so washed that it’s hard to imagine how he can still make QF runs.

That was tough to watch.

Azarenka and Sharapova’s grunts were measured at 105 decibels

I was initially gonna bring up Monica Seles since I assumed she was loudest of all but nope. 93.2 db

EDIT: Federer’s 39. If he wasn’t juiced to the gills, he would’ve retired years ago.

TBH, I don’t care if tennis players are juiced. It’s not like boxing or MMA where their juicing allows them to physically harm other human beings and essentially give them CTE faster.

It’s cumulative. Not only does the competition ramp up, but his age wears him down.

:face_vomiting: that Djoko is going to have the all time moniker. Fed is still the :goat:

It’s so hard to compare eras and LOL Nate Silver and his irrational love for ELO. Still blows my mind that Roger played with a PS 85 until 2002, a PS 90 until 2014, and was somehow able to compete. And then he made an absolutely enormous change to the 97 and netted himself 2 additional slams. My bats were all 97/98 but I used to hit with old Head Prestige 93 and the Pro Staff 85/90 for novelty and was lucky to even get a frame on a heavy ball coming off modern rackets with poly. Those Pro Staffs hurt like a motherfxxxxx too.

I still have a hot pink Andre Agassi Donnay. Not sure why I’ve kept it.

Wood here. Jack Kramer Autograph.

It’s funny because I used to laugh about seeing people that keep wood rackets and I’m sure that Donnay is about the equivalent to wood compared to new rackets. I have the blue/orange one too still lol.

I hit with the old pro staff 90 for about 15 years- largely when I wasn’t playing very seriously while busy with kids sports. In 2015 I moved to the ounce lighter version of Federer’s 95 racquet.

A dude older than me by 3 years had a ton of those black Wilson Staff rackets from being sponsored and I loved them but every time I tried it I couldn’t adjust to the smaller head size. It was a sweet racket though imo.

The one i use now is great. Lots of forgiveness on mishits. Volleyed super well yesterday but couldn’t really drive my groundies.

One day all the strokes will work at the same time. Literally one day. Such is the life as a 3.5.

This week I messaged someone who was on my HS team to see if he plays still and wants to hit balls sometime. Unless I join a league or something I don’t have people to play with anymore. It sucks. I’m horrible and rusty as hell I’m sure.

I bought a Prince Rebel Team 98 4-5 years ago and have used it a dozen times or less and those were hitting with people that could barely keep it in.

Where are you?

I play through our Y which has a big tennis program, but there are a bunch of groups I see that just play at parks.

It takes 1-2 player friends if you don’t want anything formal.

MN area. My hs teammate actually messaged back that he’s willing to play just now haha.

I lived outside the cities. I worked in Minnetonka and was able to use the Williston tennis center.

The hard part there is the short season. I mostly played with my sons

There is a dome thing up in the Fridley area that’s fairly reasonable. I’ve hit there when visiting a couple of times.

Small towns are so variable. Some have a program or league otherwise you’re on your own.
