Don’t think a whole lot of people expected Gauff to stand a chance. She might have had the easiest ride to a major final of anybody. Her highest ranked opponent was 31st.
Well I got mine today. 4-6, 6-4, 10-8. (Us old guys play a 10 point in lieu of a third set). Got up 5-0 in the tie-break, got down 7-8, then closed three points in a row. (I played #2 singles).

For someone that used to play at was ok in hs. Like 2.5/3.0
How does one get back into organized tennis.
The easiest way is to join a club. Or perhaps your community has an adult league on their public courts?
Otherwise let me know where you are at and I can look to see if there is 3.0 league for USTA. Most teams are looking for players.
Crap all the other matches went down. 2 doubles and 1 singles went down in 3 sets. 1 doubles lost in straight sets but had a setpoint at 6-5 before losing the breaker. Still a ton of fun in great weather.

There isn’t much meaningful competitive stuff below 3.0.
Find some lessons. Make sure you get a racquet that fits with how you will play-amazing the technology available from super light to very stiff to very flexible. (I’m not an expert for anyone but me)- a club pro can help you.
If before you could keep a rally going and sometimes hit a real tennis shot, you’ll be 3.0 in no time. If you just played patty cake then it might be more difficult depending on your natural hand eye coordination.
I played varsity +1 doubles for multiple years so I was solid. Forehand was trash but I could play.

Then you are already 3.0. Maybe not the first day out, but according to the self rating guidelines I’m pretty sure varsity HS would be a 3.0 floor.
My forehand is so inconsistent. Guy put me out wide and a stroked a ball that started outside the line and landed 3” inside the corner down the line. Real beauty. Then I dumped the next point into the net with no pressure on my shot.
My serve was ok. Two handed backhand was great. Net play was great. Forehand. Basically just slice everything. Wasn’t pretty but it worked

The umpire should take points away, the dude is a complete tool.

Kgyrios has been like this his whole career. Brilliant shoemaker but complete tool.
I think he is unable mentally to handle this kind of stress

I love watching Kyrgios play when he’s on. Such an amazing talent. But the guy has some serious anger management issues.
