Tennis anyone?

A veteran political journalist here is reporting that sources tell him that Djokovic will be deported. It’s just gone 9am in the east as I type this, I imagine we will hear in the next few hours. At this point, given the article ggoreo posted above and the report from this journalist, I am going to be very surprised if he is not thrown out.

I can’t imagine there’s any legal appeal. The minister clearly has sweeping powers to cancel any visa he likes for any reason he likes. It’s like the idea of a legal appeal to an executive pardon (but in reverse, I guess).

The three year ban can be waived. I think that’s the most likely outcome, that they deport him but waive the ban.

I’ll be sad if this happens, will make the tournament much worse.

So anything short of murder or where is the line where you would ban him? Lying to skirt immigration laws is a big fucking deal.

@Aofrantic nice vote. Glad to have company. Just like I want bad wagers on J! To lose solely do to betting stupidity.

This was how I felt pre the evidence of falsifying the test, but now fuck him. I’d rather have him get his documentation shoved up his ass and get thrown on a plane. Also kind of looking forward to the collective Serbian tantrum we’re going to get.

If he falsified the test, sure. I don’t think that’s been proven to any compelling degree. I certainly don’t care about the travel form line item and think that could be an honest mistake. And if it wasn’t, I don’t care, it’s just a dumb technicality. I’d put it right up there with telling the flight attendant you’ve reviewed the safety information when you’re in an exit row.

Yeah I don’t care about the travel form particularly, but it’s an aggravating factor. I’d bet everything I own that the test is falsified.

You’ve been paying closer attention than me so you’re probably right.

Fresh reports emerged on Thursday claiming Spanish authorities are investigating Djokovic over his arrival into the country.

The tennis star said his agent incorrectly ticked “no” on a form asking if he had travelled in the 14 days before leaving for Australia, when in fact he had gone from Serbia to Spain in that time, where he practised ahead of the year’s first grand slam.

Spanish publication COPE reports agencies are looking into whether he entered the country illegally.

Tennis journalist Ben Rothenberg revealed Spains’s policy stipulates “unvaccinated tourists” are not allowed to enter the country and he’d need to prove his work was “essential” to get in.

So is Trump involved in the insurrection?

Did OJ do it?

Did Cosby do it?

Ever heard of Erik and Lyle Menendez.

If I ever need a jury trial, would you be on it please?

I would be an excellent, impartial, and fair juror, agreed.

Thanks for having a sense of humor about these things.

It’s funny that he’s got three countries mad at him now.

That Channel Seven footage leak was traced to a captioning company, the CEO of that company is now leading an investigation to identify the employee. On top of losing their job there will be criminal prosecution, so someone is about to get owned. Thank you for your service, sir.

Not big on tennis but getting keen on either outcome. Banned for 3 yrs from Oz and sanctions by tennis associations/authorities (whatever they’re called) would be correct decision for this lying turd.
But if Novax Djocovid is allowed to play I really, really, really hope the aussie crowds give him the treatment he deserves.

I’m also hype for both outcomes - I think they’ll probably waive the ban though, but it would be awesome if they didn’t.

We have to be getting an answer pretty soon. The draw for the Men’s Singles is supposed to be kicking off at 3pm Melbourne time. It’s almost noon there now.
