People hate change. It will take time to adjust to the interface.
Once the bots kick in and the news continues the threads will catch up.
I like the new site.
I posted a trump thread, and I’m planning to manually transcribe tweets for the time being to get it going.
Edit: I posted the last 24 hours of his racist nonsense to make it feel like home.
Wide screen looks great on the desktop.
Gonna see how hard it is to post a picture of a fractal dog.

Edit: super easy
The bots will be here soon. The move will be successful. You hear me, it will be successful.
Definitely. It’s a huge change from the message board look we’ve been using for 15 years or whatever but we’ll adapt quickly, and really ggoreo’s wide theme gets us pretty close to the old look.
Not everybody left 22 for exiled. Not all exiles will come here. Of those who do, not all will be happy and there will be complaints. That’s all to be expected. I hope the small number of people who are doing the work won’t be too discouraged. I’m sure it’s appreciated even if it’s not voiced often enough.
Alexei Navalny: Jailed Russian opposition head develops ‘allergy’
Russia’s most prominent opposition figure, Alexei Navalny, has been taken from jail to a hospital in Moscow.
Officials gave no details of his condition but Mr Navalny’s spokeswoman said he had had an allergic reaction with severe facial swelling - something she said he had not experienced before.
Nothing to see here…
Must be Putin’s birthday!!
I can do images but not videos. Im going to have to read the instructions.
Don’t misunderstand my post. I think there are good reasons to move here and I’m greatful for people who have put in work. I will be posting here.
BUT, this needs to a compelling product and it needs to do decent numbers. I see the main Trump thread is now up, and that’s a great thing. It’s a cog from which many spokes flow. I hope this forum becomes at least as good as the last. Hell, I’ll give it at least a month. Just saying, if it doesn’t work for one reason on another, we’ll have to deal with that.
I hope it does work and is expanding and being monitized a year from now and 5 years from now.
Edit: this is the first time I’m seeing it on my phone browser, and it looks a better than on a 30 inch monitor. Looks better on phone than than proforums imo.
Nice work!
Widescreen theme is great on a laptop. All themes appear to work well on a phone in Chrome. I’m impressed.
Fractal dog is the mutts nuts. I hate change but lurking you peeps is well worth it.
It’ll take a little getting used to thematically, and I’m definitely someone who’s used to posting on the old fashioned style forums like ProBoards or VBulletin, but Discourse definitely has some feature advantages.
At the end of the day, if others felt strongly about staying on an old-fashioned forum they were given a lot of time to voice their opinions and not very many people did. I’m hoping that people can adjust to the new site and keep the community together in full, it would be a shame to lose posters over it… but after all the work that was put in for free by several members of the community (thanks guys, great job!), everyone should give it a good chance.
The other thing is that my understanding is there’s a lot more ability to customize Discourse, so hopefully if there are any problems/common complaints, those areas can be improved.
This is true. Another thing that hasn’t been mentioned yet: Now that we’re on our own platform that we control, using a robust open source platform that’s in active development, we’ll never need to go through the painful migration that we already did in April/May and are currently doing again. If the community ever decides to go to different software on a different platform we can do a full transfer - all threads, all posts, all user accounts. No more recreating everything from scratch.
And, just the fact that Discourse is very much in active development. This is software that is going to keep getting better and better, and it’s going to be very easy for us to stay current with updates and upgrades.
