And that guy would still probably do that with UBI in place.
I know it was not an argument against UBI or anything. like someone else said the workaholics will work either which way. Its people like me who dont need much money to live on and if given the choice would not work you need to worry about. Though twelve grands not enough so id have to keep my job…but retirement would be coming early!!
Keep in mind you will be paying more in taxes so you won’t come out 12K ahead but you could def save the surplus.
Heh I have! Alabama Shakespeare Festival (not affiliated with Alabama Shakes) is one of the few redeeming things about Alabama
Well I’ve got a mental game for the day, thanks.

“Reckon where Romeo is?”
When you’re Joey Salads, you’re going to get tossed a few things.
So an update on my car accident… Got the car repaired, it was a little under $850 - I paid the $250 deductible. My insurance company still hadn’t heard back from the other insurance company, so I called to follow up and got them to call the other insurance company while I was on hold. 10-15 minutes later, they came back on and said the other insurance company gave them the run around, then told them the policy was not active… So it’s now an uninsured motorist claim, and I’m waiting to hear back from my adjuster regarding how to proceed, but it looks like unless this lady pays them the $800-850, or has it in visible assets if they decide to sue her, I’m out $250.
Meanwhile, she managed to rear end me while driving without car insurance (which she’s already done before according to her public record), leave the scene illegally, and get off without so much as a warning. I’m furious at the police.
Hate to say it, but this is pretty standard. I have scammers take shots at me at work all the time… and at this point I don’t even bother reporting it to anyone in law enforcement because they never look into any of it.
Today’s law enforcement are all about making easy arrests that make their numbers look good, but actually doing work to stop bad people from doing bad things… yeah that’s not what the job is about. They’d rather fuck the innocent because it’s easy (innocent people or people who are randomly guilty of like one thing are way easier to catch because they haven’t put any real work or thought into getting away with it or protecting themselves from law enforcement) than catch the guilty because it’s hard.
Dude, I’m not a psychiatrist or a multiple choice test designer, but:
A) You gotta learn how to turn of that part of your brain on demand
B) Hurry up and get into a new line of work
C) Bad things - with unhappiness, anxiety, frustration, and stress at the bottom end of the range.
I’ve been struggling with this lately as well. Current Affairs touched on it in their most recent podcast, though they could have gone a bit deeper–the insidious nature of “productivity hacks” that don’t actually give us more free time or more happiness, they just serve as a source of stress because we always feel like we aren’t keeping up and must push ourselves farther, usually for the benefit of our employers.
Is it society that dictates virtues like temperance, charity, kindness, diligence, patience (all that I can remember off the top of my head from playing Crusader Kings 2)? Or are those virtues just reflections of the innate behaviors that were evolved to make cooperation in small communities actually work? And the same thing with vices, with shame as the master emotion to motivate adherence to our virtues and keep us from indulging in too many vices.
2p2. Where the owners advocate shaming any service worker because math. Ripping Sara Huckabee Sanders though? Shut it down!
Is MLYLT the only thing keeping that place populated? EDF and Lounge getting merged to OOT it looks like.
