I’m not on it but iirc Nextdoor is literally your neighbors

“He was also charged with theft for taking the handcuffs with him on his brief jaunt.“

That’s some top-notch creative law enforcement right there. That’ll show ‘em!

I got a letter in my letterbox the other day inviting me to join Nextdoor, ostensibly from a nearby neighbour. It read like a form letter that the company had given him to print off. I trashed it. I’m pretty sure I am in a reactionary neighbourhood. I rent here. Most of the neighbourhood is old people who bought in the street like 40 years ago.

Edit: I just looked up 2019 election data from the local polling booth, which is basically next door to me. In my electorate the Labor candidate won 58% to 42% two-party-preferred, but at my booth the result was 52-48 to the conservative Coalition.

My Nextdoor is actually pretty boring, I think maybe because there are a lot of minorities so people don’t lose their shit when they see a black teenager walking around.

My Nextdoor is similarly boring, with nearly every thread being about a lost pet or seeking a recommendation for a contractor.

Florida GOAT

There’s an empty office building in an adjacent city to mine. It’s somewhat large, but not huge. On Nextdoor someone posted an article from a very shitty source about how the federal government as looking at it to house the homeless. Odious idiots went from saying hundreds to thousands to speculating that they were going to put 30000 homeless drug crazed insane men in this building who would be wandering between the areas parks and elementary schools all day.

(I looked it up - 200k square feet in the building)

Idk man. My block is probably 75% black/Hispanic but nextdoor is nonetheless super racist.

This is very creepy. A private company database that has been tracking the location of cars for years and years.

I couldn’t help it. Apparently Ben Carson did some kind of tour of potential sites for shelters in the area and visited this property.

Hard to resist being political in this thread. I’d like it if I were able to resist, but…some idiots in the idiotic Trump administration may have looked at a building that they don’t own in regards to doing something there’s no chance in hell will actually be done and it’s sheer panic here with people speculating that there might be 30000 people sheltered in this building. It’s beyond ridiculous. Sadly this will leave an impression and be remembered the next time some church or something tries to sponsor a supportive housing project for half a dozen homeless people.

That’s not really my fetish, but if that’s how the folks at Newsweek choose to get their rocks off, who am I to judge?

At least it’s not bullshit.

Was headed to a meeting in my building and ran across this:

Didn’t see the hearing today but there was a tweet that she did a better job than most of the D’s.

Is there a private meeting planned with Corey “I mock immigrant children with Downe Syndrome” Lewandowski. From what all the talking heads say, the private hearings have approximately 1/1000th the grandstanding by both parties, and are a whopping 2x more productive.

But private meetings don’t move the needle with regard to public opinion, and thus don’t give the Democrats anything.

Of course, either way eDems win. Either it’s in private, nobody hears it, they don’t have to impeach or it’s in public, nothing is answered, they don’t have to impeach. Either way, Pelosi wins! Well played, Nancy.

Enjoy being minority leader again soon while the country falls into dictatorship. You earned it!
