Around the Horn seems made for a pandemic, I’m not sure why production was ever interrupted at all. Basically every show is ATH now

ESPN the Ocho is on today where you can watch The Mountain lift heavy weights. They just interviewed him and he disturbingly was only blinking one eye :grimacing:

You’re genuinely supposed to take away the exact opposite of this. There are so, so many stories about Jordan cheating ppl out of money or being a dick in gambling.

He’s going for world record dead lift

Pippin was also a notoriously shitty tipper I think but with that contract I get it now

Yeah, I can get wanting to hang out with MJ over Magic because of the aura of MJ, GOAT and all. But Magic would give you a more pleasant experience literally 100% of the time. Dude is about as nice of a person you can be for having lived the life he has.

As far as hanging out, Barkley easily crushes everyone else mentioned so far.

Most teams were also horribly run during these times! Look at old drafts, they’re insane. Even the Bulls were fine blowing up the best team in the league.

Are we really sure teams have become that much better at drafting? There are insane lottery picks all the time.

More work and staffing is definitely a thing with smarter organizations. You still have stuff like Anthony Bennett, but it happens less.

I think research is really overrated with these NBA drafts. I think a hard core 2+2 SE reg that is a fan of both NBA and NCAA basketball, could with nothing more than internet research come up with a draft board that is at least of average quality compared to most teams in the league.

Only 60 guys get drafted. Just too small a number to really be able to capitalize on being able to identify sleepers.

A big reason for that is because NBA players now have much more control over their own career and are not strict property of white billionaires.

We should be careful with what we’re nostalgic about.

Do people remember when the nba draft was seven rounds? That was insane.

Counterpoint - he is the most likely to throw you through a plate glass window.

This is such a great clip and man do I miss NBA right now HARD.

lololol @ Bird being stone faced the entire time. I remember Reggie jumping up and down like crazy and the double pump Jordan shot that hit every part of the rim but doesn’t go in. Damn!

The Best of Pride fighting showed up online and I’m making my way through them. It’s like live sports because I have heard of a lot of the fighters, but no idea who wins or how. The ground game is primitive at times, commentators seem stunned when anyone escapes an arm bar.
Every single athlete (under 250) is absolutely jacked. Steroids were (allegedly) subtly encouraged. Wild stuff. I recommend.

Where can you find it?

How does Rodman come out in the Bulls documentary? I only want to watch it if he’s recognized as the unsung hero of those late bulls teams.

I’m also ignorant to most of PRIDE history still so I thought you were using GOAT more liberally on his comeback.

I mainly watch a fight here or there and try not to know the result beforehand - it’s pretty fun. I was on a Sergei Kharitonov rally last night coincidentally. Had no idea who was going to win his fight vs Alexander Emelianenko.

Post I made 5 years ago.

I know a few people who have met him personally and this is the exact opposite of what I hear.

Comes off fine. Quirky dude, who brought a lot to the table. But you had to deal with his shit. He was good enough that it was worth dealing with it.

I don’t really know how unsung he was at the time. I mean if you asked anyone to rank players in order of importance to Bulls success at the time, everyone would have said Jordan, Pippen, and Rodman in that order. And that would have been correct.
