It would just be replaced by screenshots. Seems pointless.

NGL I’ve completely given up on ethical consumption stuff. With very very few exceptions, it’s hard enough just getting by in this world let alone trying to make sure my money isn’t going to some colossal asshole. And even if I try, it probably still goes to some huge asshole just not one as public.

Why? What is this about? I didn’t know we still did things by vote here, but my gut is no. What block list? Where is that published? Who manages that?

These are genuine questions by the way. I dont care if any or none of them are answered, but this would determine how I would vote, if I have any say in the matter. I have no clue who actually manages this site or these decisions or how this works or what the rules are anymore.

To me, this is a matter of “free speech” on this platform - if the concern is giving money to a nazi, I will find a way to fund it to make that hilarious or cover it myself so you can absolve yourself of that terrible moral burden, or, if it’s about logistics and maintenance - I do understand that and have no solution and would likely vote in your favor. However, I think the ability to view twitter links here protects user privacy more than people posting the raw links here and clicking into them. I also think it makes site viewership better because it makes sharing information easier and quicker, something that made this site really great back in the day and similar indie platforms out there. This is a really rare space. Just my irrelevant 2c, because despite what anyone may want to say about me, I care about this site and almost all of its users.

I guess my answer is sort of, it helps more to post the link when it’s a direct quote/give credit to whoever made it than picture it or whatever as some form of yeah the few of us on here aren’t directly posting twitter links, got him. They’re not going to notice.

I think this is an issue where both sides have points in their favor. It should be acceptable to be on either side of this question.

I think it’s pretty reasonable for the yes’s to want to boycott Twitter. Why is that a problem?

Seems like a stupid game that would only get us stupid prizes without accomplishing anything.

It’s one of the admin panel features any mod or admin can access, first used to censor the C-word. I don’t think it’s published but it’s the C-word, N-word, and a handful of users who asked their names not be posted.

I agree, embedded Tweets here let us see what crazy shit is being said without giving any ad revenue to Elon and consumes even the slightest bit of his bandwidth so I think it works out better than screenshots.
