Wait, why are you lifting weights while trying to win a weight-loss challenge? An easy way to lose weight is to stop lifting weights and lose some muscle. Obv do cardio though.
He isnt going to be gaining muscle
I doubt I’ll gain much if any muscle mass and I think I’m going to pretty comfortably make this bet regardless. I might not be walking around 170 in five weeks but I’ll be pretty close. And I can lose maybe ten pounds just going to a zero carb zero salt carnivore diet for the last three or four days. You have to think that my glycogen stores are full with this very high carb diet, so that’s a pound of glycogen and three pounds of water. I’m also eating a ton of salt, so going zero salt is probably worth two or three pounds. Then sweat out another couple of pounds in an epsom salt bath the morning of the weigh in and that should be close to ten pounds.
But to answer your question, I’m doing it because it’s a good habit to get into. And if I can build a little strength on this calorie deficit (unlikely but who knows), all the better.
Yes, just for the weigh in.
185.4 lbs this morning. 1,033 calories yesterday, 180 from scallops, the rest potatoes.
185.6 lbs this morning, 1,380 calories. 695 from sushi/soup meal out for lunch, 505 from potatoes, 180 from scallops. First day potatoes didn’t make up the majority of my calories since starting.

You been getting solid sleep?
Helps the metabolism.
Yeah I’ve been sleeping pretty well. I’ve been going to bed at like 9:30-10:00 and I usually get up at about 7. I’ve been waking up at about 3-4 lately and reading for a bit and then falling back to sleep around 4-5 for a little bit. I think it might just be because I’m actually getting enough sleep.

I had something called funeral potatoes here in Utah the other day and it was fantastic. On the other hand, it sat in the pit of my stomach like an anvil.
184.8 this morning. Yesterday was not great. Had my sushi meal for lunch the second time this week. Then went to get a (1) drink with some friends. Ended up drinking three (3) drinks, one 16 oz beer and two whiskey and soda. Well one whiskey and soda and then my friend ordered me a drink and it was whiskey and ginger ale. “I didn’t know what kind of soda you wanted”. God dammit it. Also ate some little street tacos. About 800 calories all together there, 700 at lunch, and some potatoes for snacks. Really wanted to hit a drivethrough and grab a burger and fries on the way home from the bar, managed to resist and go home and microwave a potato instead. 1758 calories total. No more drinking until December 20.
lol @ that tweet thread about mash potato
184.6 lbs this morning. 1,060 calories yesterday, 160 from cod, the rest potatoes.
184.8 lbs this morning. 1,337 calories yesterday, 160 from scallops, the rest from potatoes.
Are you still getting your walks in? How is your energy and sleep?
Edit: just saw you answered this 4 days ago
Not sure if it’s viable, but with that calorie intake I’d think you’d be doing great if you found a way to sweat or elevate your heart rate for an hour per day.
I’m currently doing 4x a week exercise and am losing 1lb/wk while gaining a lot of muscle. I think I’ll work on lower calorie diet in January. Trying to lose about 60 lbs by April; using rest of 2019 to get solid overall fitness level. Currently 6"2’ 300 lbs.
Just had 3 small frozen burritos and a banana for breakfast/late night meal, as my schedule is fubar atm.
183.8 lbs this morning. 1,179 calories yesterday, 700 from sushi lunch and the rest potatoes.
I don’t really like doing cardio (boring!) and it usually just makes me hungrier for not much calorie burn. I might try it though.
As I read it, he’s sometimes upset and (necessarily) somewhat obsessive.
Weighing every scrap of food I eat is at least a little obsessive.
I’d write more but I need to go eat 472 grams of potato.
