EU will close borders to non-essential travel
EU member states have agreed to close the EU’s borders to all non-essential travel for 30 days, the President of the European Council Charles Michel has announced after a meeting of the EU’s 27 leaders.
The travel ban will affect all non-EU nationals from visiting the bloc, except long-term residents, family members of EU nationals and diplomats, cross-border and healthcare workers, and people transporting goods.
Think usually it’s just some benzos to get them through
Edit: looks like you’re right for severe cases
Wow, the death rate for the flu is 10% huh? Man I know some people running like God, then. We should buy a lottery ticket.
And there will be millions who fall for this shit.
New York mayor considering ‘shelter in place’ order
New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio says he is considering issuing a “shelter in place” order like that already in place in California’s Bay Area.
Such an order would mandate that all city residents stay in their homes and avoid contact with others except for essential purposes.
De Blasio’s comments were contradicted by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo in a Tuesday press briefing. Cuomo said he had no plans to “contain New York City”.

I’m way more productive working from home. Lack of yambags interrupting my day is huge!
“If I had known ten days ago what I know now, I would have still drank masseto toscana from that hooker’s navel, but I would have used hand sanitizer first”
Lucky. Everyone working from home has resulted in a doubling of conference calls here. Rather than solving things via a 5-minute chat, we’re solving them via a 30-minute phone call.
So people will only be allowed out of their houses in case of emergencies, or in case of a laundry list of non-emergencies?
My Grandad was with the RAF in the war and I tell you over his dead body would he put up with being treated like this. You would not stop him going to pensioners club or wherever else or being treated like a leper. Most alive now do not remember the war which I guess is why they are putting up with these hand sanitising snowflakes.

Would you have a building superintendent come into your apartment right now? What precautions should be taken?
1BR apartment in NYC. Overhead light in bedroom short-circuited or something. I’m not competent enough to troubleshoot or fix the wiring so I’d like to have the super come in. Nobody has come into the apt since coronavirus panic started. I don’t want to get something that I pass on to others, but the flip side is I will go nuts if I don’t have an overhead BR light for the next month. Only leaving the apt right now for essential grocery store trips and walks outside.
My thought was: cover the bed with a plastic sheet to be thrown out after he’s in here, keep social distance while he is here, disinfect/wipe light fixture and switches after he leaves. That work, or am I stupid to even have him come in the apt?
