I agree, but unfortunately he pleaded out of all but one charge, so this 11 months is for that 1 charge only.

I am still pissed that 59 charges are just…gone.

I just sent emails to my state and fed congresswomen and also the state epidemiologist.

Looking to do something to help. At 55 with an a1c at the higher end of the normal range I probably shouldn’t be a first liner but I could help track. Something- help track statistics, make calls to nursing homes, whatever that my background as a microbiologist might be able to do.

My active clients are all SF based. They aren’t doing any lab work. So no travel and now no data to analyze. Pickings are getting slim here.

State liquor stores (essentially the sole wholesalers) are closed. I could always make moonshine.

And he will be out before 2022, and will run again and win. Even money for that event seems like terrible odds.

I just don’t get how a guy like this keeps getting re elected

100% at this point imo. They need to make a decision like 3 months out.

He has an R next to his name

No seriously, that’s it. Same reason we got Duncan Hunter in 2018. These people just “can’t vote for a democrat.” (That is a direct quote from a Trumpkin I know from poker who HATES congress and all our incumbents, but…)

Guessing zero chance the cheque’s will be means tested? You are going to send $1.000 to millionaires and billionaires.

I’ll take 10-1 odds that there will be some sort of means testing. How much would you like to wager?

Peak hospital usage I dunno. Italy may be slowing down in terms of new cases per day, which is good news. But “cases” for them right now means show up at the hospital needing intensive care. They aren’t testing anyone else. And average time on ventilator seems like a month (they just released patient 1 - the first patient to go into ICU).

So it seems like they’re a long way away from peak ICU/ventilator need.

I don’t remember didnt literally everyone get a $600 check back in 2001?

Mnuchin specifically said at today’s press coference “we don’t need to be sending checks to someone that makes a million dollars a year”

doesn’t mean it won’t happen

Yet another thing Asians do - leaving shoes at the door - starting to make a lot more sense. Along with bowing instead of handshake. Not hugging your parents. Etc.

I wonder if chopsticks cause less disease than flatware?

Missed that. Glad to hear.

The main thing the means testing does is it keeps the millions of people who can’t jump through the hoops to demonstrate need (and there will be restrictions - like criminal records) from getting the money. It’s not about the keeping the money from the 607 billionaires in the United States.
