SARS-CoV-2: Electric Superflu

That doesn’t follow at all; we can keep ICUs from getting overcrowded and get people care by staggering out when everyone gets the disease.

We just need to look at what China is doing (we won’t of course because USA#1). They’re going back to work in some places. How are they doing it?

I am certainly no expert, but one thing a month buys you - hopefully - is the ability to seriously ramp up testing capability and efficiency, so that it is easier at a later point in time to know who has it, and maybe even who had it (knock on wood you can’t get it twice).

There also seems to be a lot of frenzied work going on around treatment and therapeutics, so who knows, maybe you buy time for a miracle in that area as well.

Yeah treadmill off in the corner can be about the same as shopping maybe. Weightlifting is not.

Urban bobcats yo. We see them all the time. Are you thinking of mountain lions?

What does everyone think about the safety of going out for a walk at night when the streets are empty? Seems mostly fine to me - if it’s aerosolized from others it should be safely dispersed outside and I can easily avoid coming within 6 feet of anyone late at night, but I guess the concern is tracking the virus back in on my shoes/clothes. I guess we should all set up our entryway areas as sort of containment zones.

Heavy traffic? Like cars? During the shutdown?

Humble brag alert. Nice living room, bro!

Where are you located? They have no delivery slots available near me. Hoping they get it up and running so I can totally avoid the grocery store and not make anyone else go out on my behalf. I’m good for a while, of course, just trying to plan ahead.

I didn’t know there was such a thing as urban bobcats. I guess they’re evolving to be accustomed to people - like coyotes.

Normal rural bobcats are the most shy elusive creatures in the world.

Do you have enough cable and ports to plug the cable from the modem straight into the computer? Or is the cable modem what is down?

Walks should be very safe. You could add a few precautions, but not sure they are necessary:

  1. Use a pair of easy to slip on shoes you only use for the walks (i.e. ones that you can step into without touching).

  2. After returning, immediately change clothes/shower. I’ve seen this recommended for any trip outside the house.

You guys probably aren’t at a very high risk if you get it, but who can you infect when if you get it? Are you in contact with your parents or grandparents or any other olds?

I absolutely agree with this.

We have to acknowledge that the majority of us are inevitably going to get coronavirus. We can only distance ourselves for so long. That doesn’t mean we should become bugchasers to try and get it out of the way. If anything, we should try to avoid it for as long as we can. If we practice sanitary behavior, then maybe there’ll be a proper treatment for it by the time we catch it. Hell, there’ll probably be online support groups or people you know who have had it giving you tips on how to deal with it. People who have beome immune to it will probably be more willing to help those who have it.

The more vigilant we are, the easier it’ll be for us when we do get it.

Contagion nailed that aspect of it, that’s for damn sure. The InfoWars right wing conspiracy types are going to turn into an accidental death cult.

Cable from outside goes into box. Box lights up blue. Ethernet cable comes out of box and goes into computer. Box no longer lights up as of this morning. That is the extent of my technical knowledge.

I’m in Manhattan. I think they only had one slot available when I ordered. I live a few blocks away from a Whole Foods, so maybe that helps.
