RFK Jr Should Not Be Taken As a Serious Anything

Here’s a poorly thought out idea - their biggest risk is being outflanked from the left. RFK Jr. is mostly known as being anti vaxxer nut, but his broader policy includes a lot of things that will sound good to people with a more left wing bent that are seeking a representative voice outside the R-D corporate diad. If he gets a chance to talk to people about anything other than how vaccines cause autism, he talks about needing a higher minimum wage, less military spending, less global military intervetntion, more union protections, affordable housing, strong environmental protections, indigenous rights, prison and policy reform. For people that want the Dems to do more on those fronts, his “outsider” status will convince some people that he is someone they should get behind.

  1. Before covid, a lot of the anti-vax community was wealthy stay at home yoga Moms who eat organic food and are skeptical of pharmaceutical companies. A lot of those people are not pure Trumpsers and in a two person race could be swung to Biden based on things like Dobbs and the Trump sexual assault allegations.

  2. She doesn’t have to come out as a full anti-vaxxer. Her basic biography as a wealthy well educated woman in her 30’s from the Bay Area is going to read as center left to casual voters.

  3. It’s unclear exactly how much money she has, but big checks can do a lot to target a message and she already dropped $4 million on Superbowl ads and ballot access, so I’d imagine that being on the ticket will lead to a lot more spending.

If he also stops sounding like a chicken getting strangled, his ‘outsider’ status will convince some people that he is someone they should get behind.

Luckily, RFK Jr is pro-Israel and anti-ceasefire.

Yeah, this guy just seems like he’s a bigger problem for Trump than anyone. Every election has wingnut spoiler candidates, there’s nothing the candidates can do about them.

I think that lots of these principled haters will still vote if the Rs promise them a tax cut or the Dems promise to give them something they need.

Why are the dems freaking about this? It has to be a good thing, right? The Never trumper but still crazy will totally go for this moron, right?

If I had to guess I’d say RFK gets a miniscule fraction of the vote overall and won’t favor one side more than 60/40, so the odds of it tipping the scale in any state are negligible unless we’re in hanging-chad territory.

Also “I hate both candidates and am not voting for either” is just code for “I’m voting for Trump”.

Oof, Biden offer him an ambassadorship somewhere

Hmm maybe in theory, but no. I honestly have never met a left leaning person who has ever even considered voting for this guy. BUT the centrist type: my mind isn’t made up, but I have qualms about Trump is his whole base, definitely. And then those people mash the Trump button anyway.

Our best hope here is that some wanted a not Biden alternative to Trump will essentially not vote.

But Dems need to blanket the airwaves with the other Kennedys slamming Jr. after the conventions?

My lisence plate starts with BS 247

I saw that. She’s basically mad about how she thinks Bernie was treated and will never vote e-Dem, or something.
