I really like Rise Against but they have both better songs and better politically active songs
Don’t think so. I’m guessing you’re the one after that.
Which means I’m likely next
7th place seems exactly right because this is a perfectly average song.
That’s my guess. Could be wrong though.

Bad Religion – Chaos From Within
I was a little worried when I saw Bad Religion. I loved their stuff in the 90s and 2000s, but they put out a song a couple years ago called “The Kids Are Alt-Right” that was absolutely dreadful. Glad that’s not the case here. It’s philosophical and wraps things up in under 3 minutes (in this case, under 2). Just the way Bad Religion should.
Yeah you got it right. Love this song.
I love a really good, punchy, sub 2 minute BR song. They really know how to hit a point, hit it hard, and get out without overstaying their welcome. I believe I won a category with a 1:05 song by them.
Also Grandpa still knows how to rock. Gaffin is likely my favorite musician of all time as an all around person. The guy just oozes sincerity about every aspect of his life and beliefs.
This is how I feel about Weird Al.

IDLES – Danny Nedelko
I’m not sure what’s going on in the video with the hand symbol. Maybe it’s something that doesn’t translate the same way across the pond. Any-hoo, this a fun punk song with an anti-xenophobic message. It’s the most positive song that was submitted, which was certainly a breath of fresh air. I probably move it up a spot if it didn’t have that dumb part where they spell “Danny Nedelko Community Fuck You”.
Lower Dens was mine. obv
eta: Missed the start, just getting caught up.
From the Youtube comments: “Throughout the video, Nedelko is posing for photos with immigrants to the United Kingdom, while posting with the “OK” hand gesture as an attempt to reclaim the gesture back from white nationalists.”
I almost submitted IDLES a couple times now. Cool band. Their album Joy as an Act of Resistance is definitely the album name that I have thought about the most these past months.
Idles are a firm Swanky favourite, but not me this time

Propagandhi – Victory Lap
First off, A+ on the band name. As for the song: I love the beat; I love the lyrics. It was released in 2017, but the lyrics “You say not all cops/You say not all men/Yeah, you insist, it’s only ninety-nine percent/There’s nothing new for you to learn/Okay, sit back, relax, and watch it all burn!” feel so 2020.
That’s me.
Going to take a short break and listen to each of the medal winners one more time. They are very close and any order is possible.
That’s fair and I feel the same way
But I don’t know any other recent political songs (other than the Eminem rap) and that came out like the week you proposed the category so I went for it.
Is that Gandhi the peace-loving freedom fighter or Gandhi the racist paedophile?
