Reveal Thread: Walrus Grab Bag 2 - The Walrus Strikes Back

Yeah I had to search for a political song although I had a few artists in mind going into it. I wasn’t sure whether the song was supposed to be from 2017-2020 or just relevant to it but I wanted something to fit both.

oh yeah!

Also, no secret on which entry is mine. Hope there was no internal bias on your part ;)

I stayed away from the obvious picks because I had posted them before in another thread. We’ll see how well that turned out.

In just a few minutes, I’ll start this show.

Most of this was pretty good. The podium stood out and was fantastic. Last place also stood out in a very not good way.

Apologies to whoever submitted this, but you could not have missed the mark more.

Roxanne – Go Fuck Yourself

What on earth is this, some kind of anthem for libertarianism? I was thinking I completely misunderstood the lyrics or something, but nope: They have a pro-cop song on the same album. I don’t really like their sound either, so the ceiling wasn’t that high anyway, but considering the lyrics this is an easy last place by a mile. 12th place is closer to 1st than it is to this.

:hushed:

There is a decent rock song somewhere in there but this is like an unintentional parody.

Oh man, I’ve got drive home from work.

Chances of still being alive in 45 mins when I get back- not confident.

Really looking forward to this round though

You’re already more than halfway to 1st place.

Not sure if my pick would be considered a troll job.

My candidates list for this category was really short. I am curious what you folks came up with.

Lamb of God – Checkmate

Lamb of God is a bit heavier (specifically with the growling vocals) than I usually care for, but they do have a few songs I like. This wasn’t really one of them. The lyrics have a “both sides” element that I’m not a fan of. If you’re going to do that, make it a call to arms or something. This just comes off as complaining with no real answers from some uninformed bros.

Me too. Combining a political song and a recent song narrowed it down pretty quick for me.

That’s mine and I disagree. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I can only assume that the silence in this thread means eyebooger realized he made a huge mistake and is typing his apology right now.

That’s pretty good. No idea what the lyrics are though, of course :)

Wtf is this? And why is the opening riff a pseudo “Boys of Summer” ripoff?

Jesus, it sounds like a Big and Rich parody.

I’m with EB. I wouldnt have even given this a single point.

Evanescence – Use My Voice

It really hurts to put this in a nodium spot. I like Evanescence a lot. But this is just kinda…boring? It’s a tangential political song from someone who doesn’t really seem to want to get into politics. Over 90% of these lyrics could have been used to write a song about a woman in a verbally abusive relationship. I’ll admit my expectations were high when I saw the artist, but this song didn’t connect with me much at all.
