To an extent, yes, but they’re going to be kind of like the velociraptor testing the fence that they think exists and over the next few years they’re going to realize there is no fence. Like they do “whatever the fuck they want” but not really. It’s not like they’re breaking down random doors and hauling green card holders to detention centers for deportation, or at least it’s super rare. But it turns out the only recourse if they do that in their border zones is that there could be an administrative complaint filed!
So a Trump or DeSantis POTUS can definitely crank up the fuckery.
I don’t. I think there’s going to be a risk of it for all non-white immigrants, and I think the idea of the risk is going to make it intolerable to live here. The thought of the person I love having to worry about that daily is an intolerable thought to me that causes me pain. I need her to feel safe and happy.
Yes, of course. But this, like many things we discuss on this board, comes down to risk tolerance. Same with COVID or the fall of democracy. When the outcome is that awful, the amount of risk one should be willing to tolerate should be really low.
Especially if the risk will escalate over time and it may get harder/impossible to leave.
Yes, super easy game. Just move 3,400 miles from my entire family and all my friends and a lot of her friends, and 4,500 miles from her entire family and most of her friends, to a place where it will be difficult for me to earn a living, where neither of us have ever set foot.
EZ Game! Thanks for your awesome insight.
