For the technical folks out there, what are your favorite questions to ask the interviewer during job interviews? What are some of the best you’ve been asked while interviewing candidates?
The best reaction I’ve received in a recent round of interviews has been “What energizes you the most about working at your company?”
For the longest time I didn’t really ask any questions at the end of the interviews because I didn’t really care, in the sense that there usually wasn’t a question I could ask whose answer was going to prevent me from accepting the position.
Granted, I’m not a developer so our situations are different, so I don’t care if they have a time card system or weekly spreadsheets or no reporting at all. The reason I like the question is it lets the interviewer talk about what they are passionate about how it applies to the job and is more interesting than “what do you like about the culture here” type questions.
For job clarity questions asking about what success looks like and how it’s measured is a good indication of what the companies process look like.
