Nobody is shocked. The fact that continuing to point out Bidenâs failure to support good, necessary policies needles moderates is the entire point. It is a meaningful shift that now when the left points out that the party has terrible views on healthcare, the response is largely âyeah but can you just shut up about it for a whileâ instead of âlol socialismâ.
Itâs really a pretty similar trajectory to the partyâs views on gay marriage. There werenât many Dems who were eager to make the case for traditional marriage from 2000-2012, it was just an issue theyâd prefer not to address because they recognized the partyâs public platform was disgusting. Now the same group of people is making the argument, not that Bidenâs healthcare plan is good, but that we should stop pointing out that it sucks because it paints Biden in a bad light.
