She won the debate because she came in with a strategy to taunt and goad Mr. Trump into diving down rabbit holes of personal grievance and vanity that left her policies and history largely untouched. He always takes the bait, and Ms. Harris set the trap so he spent much of the debate talking about the past, or about Joe Biden, or about immigrants eating pets, but not how heâd improve the lives of Americans in the next four years.

As I expected, cult members unsurprisingly think daddy was great. Libs think she was great. The 4 undecided people whoâs remote control batteries died and couldnât change the channel broke 3-1 for Harris for a net gain of it doesnât matter.
But the good news for me is that I donât have to vote for a literal decaying ham sandwich and instead get to run up the score in my meaningless blue state (thanks DEI electoral college!) with a candidate that seems good but will ultimately disappoint.

This really isnât what Iâm seeing or hearing at all. At best itâs âhe did what he could when it was 3 vs.1â.
Whether it matters at all I guess is to be seen.

Only way it makes sense is if they get every condition they want.
I canât even think of what set of âconditionsâ - even if you got all of them - would counteract the overall risk of losing the 2nd debate and giving back whatever you mightâve gained from cooking him last night.

I tuned into Fox News well after the debate was over and they had their talking points by then. It was a) Moderators were against Trump, and b) Harris didnât talk about policy.
They also made fun of her for preparing, specifically for preparing to bait Trump. Yeah, that was terrible, guys. She sure fucked that up.

If you only listened to the 538 podcast last night youâd think Harris barely won the debate and the big story was her not talking about policy enough.

And by the way, as for the âshe didnât talk about policyâ thing, have we EVER seen a candidate get into details about policy in a debate? Of course not. They donât have time. Most of the time, they are defending themselves from an attack by the other person. And the audience would be bored to tears if someone went full nerd and dug into policy. Harris hit on policy more than most have ever done.
